Sorry I didn't have my camera with me today but a friend was showing me two distinctly different style 8-round Luger mags that he had, the "usual" one faired in perfectly with the bottom of the grips but the other "unusual" one didn't...the front bottom edge forward of the thumb piece extends out away from the bottom contour of the grips. The "unusual" one is identical in all other respects but the bottom contour.

I've looked at a zillion pics of Lugers and they all show the "usual" contour. Any ideas what the "unusual" one is?

If you could give us any markings on the mag that would help. It could be a later war mag with bakelite bottom. This type of mag does not curve up into the grip at the front. Does it look like this?

Gosh, it's been 12 hours ago but I remember the front being more pronounced...I'll take a pic of that one with me next time I visit him.

Is that just a different style with no special significance?
