Looks like it would be good for my 16" AR. I've always felt weird about carrying around large rifle cases to my car; not sure if its because i'm afraid local kids will want to break into my house and try to steal my guns (good luck!) or because of evil stares from the anti neighbors...but

$30 is cheap. UTG is not the upper end of quality though. You'll have to separate receivers to fit into 25"x12". The parts may not sit solidly and may shift with gravity when picked up.

Here's my favorite:

http://www.amazon.com/Condor-Single-Rifle-Case-3-Inch/dp/B004VRS5GO/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1341412522&sr=1-1&keywords=condor+rifle+case+36

Because it's MOLLE and you can take off the 3 outside pouches and the case becomes rather discreet compared to other popular makes like Voodoo where the pouches are fixed. The pouches are handy when you want to go into "Tactical" mode and come off to go discreet. Tan is a neutral non-gunny look compared to black, camo or even OD.

Another $30 or so but it's the real deal, not airsoft quality.

Another hint, find a embroidered patch to attach to the case that makes the observer's mind shift into thinking they have what's inside figured out like for example, a YAMAHA patch that might indicate musical keyboard inside.

If your rifle will fit in there assembled you have an illegal SBR. GO with the 34" model and you'll be GTG plus is has rings that will accept a small padlock.

no, not assembled. the whole point was to get something that doesn't LOOK like it's holding a rifle.

that one's small enough to be a really big laptop bag and i can easily take down my AR-15 for transportation in like 10 seconds

Gotcha. It has straps to keep your parts separated so your GTG.

It may work, providing the dimensions listed are inside dimensions (probably not) and then you will have to cut foam. The 12" dimension might be way too tight for a AR upper and lower half. In fact, I just measured an AR broken down and the two will have to touch and the foam will have less than a half inch border unless you have flat top and flip-down BUIS and you'll get maybe an inch of foam border.

based on the user-submitted images, it should work.

One of the photos shows 2 uppers with optics in the main pouch (14.5" and 16") and i'd only be transporting one so I can store it diagonally, and the pouch has room for the lower receiver.

i guess i'll just try it out and provide pics and a report if it works

Cool. That's one stuffed covert case!

Question: Did user fabricate all the velcro straps into place?

according to the product description, the velcro are adjustable and part of the case

If you order keep this thread updated on how it goes. I'm also looking for the smallest rifle case possible.

why not separate your upper & lower and put your rifle in something like a padded & divided tennis bag? or a guitar/violin/musical instrument case?

all of the "discrete" cases on the market are anything but discrete. what a joke

Get one of the guitar case gun cases or load up in your garage.

I got the 38" UTG and it works fine. I once stuffed an AK, Kel Tec su16, a converted AR 7 .22, XD sd9mm, PX4 9mm, 92FS, and about 4 loaded mags for each gun. It was heavy but it held up with no problems.
I try not to stuff that much most of the time but I know it can take it and for the price I feel it was a good buy. :D

I've been looking into the 25" also for a small break down case. I might pick one up this month and again for the price you can't got wrong. For just driving to the range :driving: it's a good bag and doesn't yell GUN (well if you don't stuff it like I did :whistling: ). I'm sure some may have an idea what it is but most people won't notice.

30.5" overall length probably won't make it. I suggest a field hockey or lacross stick bag. Logos and sporty look are very discreet, I fit a 41" rifle in field hockey bag.
