I bought a PMKMS kit to build, and I was wondering. How do I prove I built it, that it's mine? Since It doesn't have numbers on it, and since there is no paperwork for it other then the receipt would I just bring that with the rifle or what?

Wouldn't the burden of proof be on any authority trying to prove you didn't build it?

You can stamp it or engrave it

Initials
Your city, state
Model
Caliber
Serial #
I have this engraved on the flat before the build at a local sports/trophy engraving shop, he charges me $10.00 per flat.
This is not required but if it were stolen police can identify it, plus pretty much eliminates the "how do I prove I built it ?"
Hopefully this link works.

For that matter, you could use your screen name, or some other fake/madeup name. Again this is not required unless you ever transfer a weapon. I do it to allow identification of my firearms incase of theft, and to prevent any possibility of a hassle from a weapon with no id markings on it. Also it looks good too...imo
On a side note, I own a refrigeration contracting company, and after having a jobbox stolen from a jobsite and not having any of the tools marked we now have all tools engraved to prevent dirtbags from easily selling them.
