considering going featureless on my AR

what's the most unmistakable muzzle brake to use?

what do most people use?

Are you asking for most effective or most popular?

Effective: Rolling Thunder, Titan, JP, Miculek

Popular: Battlecomp (probably)

Popular: Battlecomp (probably)

The legal experts say the Battlecomp should be avoided on a featureless due to the companies marketing of the product as a flash suppressing comp.

I really like my Battlecomp 1.0 on my BB equipped rifle.

will the battlecomp piss off everyone nearby?

BattleComp or Surefire MB556K....They are considered to be decent right now in the market. Or you can check at JP enterprise muzzle breaks ( my dad's friends use on their rifles, and they actually love it!!!)

Just my 2 cents!! :)

No, it's not that obnoxious at all compared to say a Surefire brake.

ok next question, which is the least expensive that won't get me in trouble with the law and won't get me in trouble with my peers

Probably the Levang linear comp but I don't hear many people lauding its effectiveness. If you're not too worried about your fellow shooters, the Miculek comp is incredibly cost effective and efficient as a comp.

might want to look into the Dyna comp from spikes. From what I read its the same deal as the battle comp but they don't market flash suppression. I would like to see what others have to say about this too since I am on the same path. I have ruled out the Battle comp on a featureless. But what about others that are not marketed that way?

Thread protectors also work just fine.

I have a surefire MB556K on my featureless and I really like it. I haven't had anyone say anything to me while shooting with it but I do notice it's a lot louder than the good ol' A2 I had on before.

I currently have the YHM aggressive end on my featureless build. It's obviously a muzzle brake, but after shooting it and the bamph sound it makes deafening everyone side to side, I think I'm going to go with the thread protector. I have an extra one laying around from my PLR16...

I bought this because it was the cheapest one I could find. Hundreds of rounds through it. No problems.

The YHM brake you linked is good to go and is a cheap option.
The Battlecomp as others have suggested is not. It is a Flash Suppressor here in CA

Yeah it hides flash. Please excuse my buddy, it was his first time shooting a featureless rifle. The rifle with the battlecomp was not featureless.

GREAT comparison video!
Mind if I use it in the future when people won't listen to me that BC is a FH?

I like the looks and price of the Paracomp... how do you think it does on muzzle rise, recoil reduction, and sideways cucussion blast / noise compared to the BC?

I'll be adding that comp to my website shortly! Thanks for the link

Sure you can.

BTW here are my thoughts on the Paracomp.

Last I heard Joe was making one for 300 Black out and 7.62x39. He is also working on one for 7.62x51.

Oh and I am no way affiliated with Parallax Tactical. I would like to be though hopefully to get a discount :)

Thanks SuperSet, I have worked hard on listing as many devices as possible.

Just added a handful more devices since I was adding the ParaComp mentioned above.

^^^ Nice. Thanks for your work.

fwiw, our first FL assembly has had the YHM brake for a couple years, and after reading prcs' review a couple weeks ago we got a Parallax Tac Gen2 for our new mid-length upper. I like it, seems a little more controllable on the hammer pairs and such then the YHM or a stock A2, and the noise doesn't matter to me (nor does big flash).

This question is asked enough that it should become a stickie.

Does anyone have any input on the effectiveness of the Rainier Arms Mini Compensator or the Griffin Armament M4-SD?
