Just wanted to get some opinion from other Calgunners.

A friend of mine wants to sell me his "preban" Colt Hbar upper w/ 20" barrel, 1x7 twist.

This upper has been fired before but I would guess less than 100 rounds at the most.

He is asking for $600. Do you think it is a fair price?
Obviously, I don't want to over pay but don't want to rob him either.

Please let me know what you guys think.

As with anything, it is worth what you are willing to pay. Is $600 fair? Yep.
Is that what you want? If so, buy it.

Is it a "large pin" upper? Will you need to buy adaptors to make it fit on a standard pin lower?

$600 seems to be a fair offering, but I'd be a buyer at $450.

Is the upper a flat top or fixed carry handle? Does it have the large push pin on the front pivot pin?

If it has a fixed carry handle and large pin, I believe it's worth less, but you have to decide if it's worth it to you. If it's a flat top and small pin, yes, it's worth it.
