I just found out I have drawn an Elk tag for unit 272X. Now I need to start doing some home work. I already ordered maps for the hunt unit. I can't believe I have finally drew a tag.

Toby is right. I believe it has the 2nd highest Elk population in the US after Colorado.

Shhhhhh!

I drew an elk tag in oregon for this year also. Tags are easy to draw because the elk hunting sucks so bad in oregon. Nobody wants to put in for them. It's better to stick to the rocky mountain states if you want an elk. Don't go spreading rumors about how many elk are in oregon!

In fact, chico is going to send me his tag so i can frame it and title it the Sucker Oregon Elk Tag. You bought a tag in Oregon but there are no elk there.

I hunted Oregon for 6 years in the 1980's. Archery tags were over the counter back then as long as you bought them before opening day.
The first year I learned the ropes and then went 5 for 5 the next 5 years.
I hunted up around Sumpter, I would love to go back.

My tag is a special case. It is for a high fence game farm where the elk are 2000lbs and they all score a whoping 700!
