I hate the cow palace gun show, I went in last time looking for some items that I had priced online, all of them were above MSRP :(

I'm already covered with optics. I dont know if a 22 is necessary since i already have 556, 762, and 5.45 covered. Maybe an upper for my ar lower?

What about a tactical rifle class?

Magpul art of the carbine dvd?

Something that can improve your skills, as opposed to just changing something on your gun.

Get one of the new Ruger 10/22 Takedowns. If I lived in SoCal I would of already since Turners appears to have them on sale.

Buy Sunday Ticket from DirecTV and a Ruger 10/22. There is always a use for a 22.

Could not agree more.
A weapon is a tool, what good is a tool if you dont know how to use it.

I'd sign up for a class with Kyle Defoor or Jason Falla.

You'll never regret a good training class. Also if you don't already own a good bolt gun or shotgun, that is a good down payment. Or build up a good INCH bag. New go bags for the cars, etc.

GunGuy123,

All the suggestions have merit. I say identify and prioritize what you want.

If it's a Rifle for that price point. There are options.

Ever thought of an SKS? Seems to be a solid rifle. It meets your price point and you already have possession of 7.62x39. ( thru your AKM's)

Further, you have access to dozens of SKS fans on this site. Some of these guys have a religious fanaticism about the rifle.

Me? I say in this market of Modern platforms there's lots of room for the systems that were built when craftsmanship, durability, and reliability took precedence over " scope of work ", " timelines ", " total cost ", and " profit. "

Enjoy your modern platforms and seize the advantages that they provide. But @ 500.00, you can incorporate a system that harkens back to the days when stocks were made of wood and men were made of steel.

That's my gratuitous ten cents,

R.B.A.

D.S.I.C, what's a good reloading kit go for nowadays?

Single stage average is 100-300 and progressive is usually 300+. That will generally get you the main components and you will need other things like specific dies shell holders, brass, primers bullets, and you may want to include a tumbler as well. Even if you don't want to reload yet start saving brass and clean it. You can either keep the brass or sell them off

Are you near BLM land? Or any place that allows your own steel targets? I just picked up an Action Target torso and that thing takes a beating like no other. Out past 100 yds (I was shooting about 150), there are no dings or dents from either .223 or .308. Should do just fine with 7.62x39 too. It'll take hits all day and then ask for more. Available from Action Target for about $220 + s/h
