I talked to sootch about I.O and he seemed to have no idea about their reputation of having the worst AKs on the market.

Lol, why would they cut off the bayo lug for california when it's not even an "evil feature"? And even if it was, they bullet button their rifles anyway don't they?

They welded the muzzle brake too, right?

Yeah that to. Unless they are using 14.5" barrels and not 16" I don't know why they would do that.

Typical out of state companies not knowing the law so they play it safe.

Is the I.O. inc company that has ak 74s listed on atlantic's website the same I.O. that sells the io casar from Big 5?

I hear a lot of hammering, and impact wrenches in the background.
Are they building AKs or is that a body shop?

Because they're incompetent morons. I almost fell over laughing the first time I examined an IO Inc AK. No way I would fire one of those things, let alone buy one.

I thought there were going to be 50 monkeys building there guns. I saw one press. They must use a air hammer to do there rivets . All the guns with the tags must have been returns. The IO brand has some of the worse rivet's iv ever seen.

Well, at least, it's better than "some of the Eastern European imports that we're "blessed" with" :p

Welp, they look better than the Big 5 special I saw in person haha :)
I'm looking at the comments again and it looks like he's going to give them a lot of new customers. Good luck to them! Oh & apparently some CA resident is a felon because he has a bayonet lug & muzzle break on his AK according to some random person.

I agree with some of the posters. It was a bit dirty there. Also not very ergonomic for that lady putting the stocks together lol. Just a simple chair.

I gotta say (being semi new to AK's) I was a bit impressed with them. But didn't look nothing like the Saiga finish. I'm only referring to their AK's because they are all decked out and mine are bone stock =(.

Lol, its not California where they have strict employment laws, its North Carolina for christ sake lol they don't care about ergonomics they just want the job done, correctly or incorrectly.

" A reimagination of what the AK could've been if it actually had some workmanship put into it "

i .. i dont know what to say they act like these AK's were crafted by god himself , welding the muzzle brake ? shaving the bayonet lug off ? my head hurts now :(

I don't know much about different shops but I thought that ehh..bullet trap? Black square box that they shot was kind of cool/weird haha. Made me a touch nervous when they were rapid firing a bit. I didn't want them to miss the block there haha.

So in all honesty and all jokes put aside, would you guys get a purist AK47 from these guys? I can get one for around 400 dollars brand new at Big 5. If I am shooting paper at 100 yards, and I will only be putting 50-100 rounds (if that) per month, is it a bad idea to pick one up?

Thanks

What would a "purist" AK be from I.O.?

Judging from the many recent threads by new owners having problems with these rifles, all indications seem to point to the fact that they've not improved, and are nothing but problem after problem due to shoddy build quality.

For around the same price you can get a WASR which will be a solid AK. You could also get a parts kit, sign up for a build party, and build your own, which is the best way to get a great AK pattern rifle and you'll learn a lot about the rifle in the process.

5:00, they cut off the bayonet lug for California... why? Just a simple text search of the PC doesn't mention a damn thing about bayonets, and welding the muzzle brake?

5:30 "a re-imagination of what the AK could have been if it actually had some workmanship put into it"

LOL

omg, I've been laughing for 2 minutes straight now. I'm not even going to bother watching the rest of the video since there is no way that they could possibly top that comment.

Its sad they pride themselves on making a "quality american product" when the rifles are crap, and their owner is a crook. If I.O. was frankenstien id be the first angry towns person to grab a torch! BOOOOOOOOOO I.O. BOOOOOOO

It was kinda funny to put faces to the phone voices. The Shan guy with the system of a down bead is their head gunsmith lol. He looks very professional and knowledgable haha.

Do watch it, it' fun. I especially liked the part about the wonderful quality of IO rifles, as opposed to the crappy Eastern European ones. All the while trying to deal with a stuck bolt on this modern marvel :p
