AHHHH!!! HOW DID YOU GET KEYMOD SECTIONS!?!?

lol... I've been waiting two weeks for Keymod sections for my 13.8". I think they were supposed to take 1-5 days to arrive. I ordered nine of them.

TWO WEEKS.

It's kind of odd how jealous I am of your one five-slot section :)

See, I TOTALLY would, I like shopping at Tier One but my damn rails are arriving on Monday already.

As for why all the rails - see my other thread :)

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=586669

I have a bunch of toys to hang on there basically. In a long-range configuration I'd put camo rail covers on, an AFG and my Harris/Versapod bipod. Also I have no kidding an iPhone picatinny mount I kludged together for running BulletFlight and SpyGlass (SpyGlass is like cheating at land nav). In the short range config I'd put on my Wilson Combat grip and flashlight/laser etc. So like two configurations; I figured I'd just leave them on the rails.

Btw, is it possible to simply leave the accessories on the rails?

I'm so jealous of you right now :)

i can't access the hex screws to remove the rail section with my surefire scout there. i would to remove the light and then i would get to the screws to loosen them and then slide out the keymod section. i can't see you running the keymod section without tightening it down...

Ahhhh, interesting. I wonder if I'll be able to reach around accessories to tighten/untighten the keymod screws if I mount accessories in the middle of a 9-slot rail.

The irony of it all to me is that I have everything short of an espresso maker to hang on my rifle - but only the top rail (and offets therefrom) to put them on.

Can you use the diagonal (1:30, 4:30, 7:30, 10:30) holes to thread the Keymod through, I wonder?

no, those are just vent/lightening slots. nothing fits in there (at least stock).

the keyslots are only on the 2 sides and bottom. the sections have 2 screw heads that go into the slots to lock them down. the front of the 5 slot section has a big round "key" that fits into the big round part of the slot to lock it in place.

trying to get to those hex screw heads would be more work or just the same work of undoing the standard picatinny mounts for your other accessories imo...

the beauty of this for me is it's super lightweight and have only rails where you really use it. run it light and slick like the troy vtac rails but this is more square for a really nice grip. and it's lighter than the troy. i don't think these are meant for accessories... more high speed/competition shooter needs

Hmm. While I've been waiting for rails I've actually been contemplating those corner slots, maybe getting slightly smaller Magpul rail strip screws and attaching Magpul rails there. I have an Eotech that I'd like to run on an offset; having a diagonally mounted forward grip might look odd but could seem helpful.

Actually, you know what, I'll go to the hardware store tomorrow and give that a go, see how it works out...

And let us know how it works out.

6.9 ounces, can't beat that. My YHM rifle length ff rail is 16.25 ounces
at 12.5". Anyone else making polymer rails? New Frontier (besides their lower)?
