I want to run a set of Magpul Gen 2 sights
What riser will I need for the front gas block since it sets a little lower than if the sight was mounted to a handguard rail ?

MBUS sights supposedly can melt when used on a gas block. That block gets very hot, very quickly. I wouldn't even try it.

This is a hunting rig, gas block never even gets warm.
I have ran a 10 round mag though it just to see and the block was barely warm

Ah, for slow and sporadic fire like that it should be alright. Afraid I can't help you with the riser though.

Not to sound like a douche, but are you planning to use this for anything other than hunting? Like range fun?

I ask, because if you only ever plan to hunt and of course range time to site it in, why waste the money on backup-iron sites and a special riser for the front site?

And to prove i'm not really a douche... ;)

And if you don't mind buying a new front site...

Thanks
The riser looks like the ticket :)
Rifle is for hunting, want the back up sights in case the scope was to fail, it has happened before on a deer rifle and ruined a hunt.
Also with the riser the sight will be that much farther from any heat.
