Just watched the news and saw a story about a new gun store coming to the vacant spot on 24th & J that used to be the Cornerstone and some local businesses were complaining about it.

It's cool with me- a lot closer than RCGE.

Sounds like the old Sac Armory on J st. They used to be a Class 3 dealer also back in the day. They had some good deals back then.

Those opposing shop owners sound like elitist a**holes. They should be happy that the gun store will bring in people who usually don't go to that part of town. Also imagine all the business they may pick up from people who are killing that final hour on there 240 hour wait.

I definitely plan on calling Elizabeth Studebaker of the midtown business association. She must be really mis informed by some dumb people if she is worried over "easy access to weaponry"

Quoted from article:
"I'm not anti-gun; I think people should have that right," Wagner said. "I'm just wondering why that location. It seems to me you wouldn't want it close to bars and schools."
Everyone is ok with something until it gets close to them. That right there is the perfect example of a hypocrite. I know which store I will not frequent, but I will be going to the gun store for sure.

Old Sacramento Armory operated in the same area for decades. I miss that store. Sad how it ended.

Lol it just shows you how clueless these anti-gun washes really are. " Easy access?" If you going to look at the weapons, yes they are easy access. The second you want to buy one Not only do you have to jump thru hoops, But You have to wait 10 days lol. Ive never seen anything in my life that is as far from "easy access" as trying to buy a Gun in Cali. I could go and buy a Pontiac GTO (provided i had the funds lol) and take her home that same day. These people make me lol in my pants, hahaha.
I hope we can keep up on this new shop, so we know when it opens. I'd like to take a gander at their wares!:D

its really sad how misinformed people are these days, Im 26, and have only been shooting for a year, But i took the time to learn all i could about CA gun laws, and firearms safety and operation "before" i armed myself. The least the anti-gun, and the general populus of people who do not own firearms can do is learn some basic information about the process of obtaining a firearm. jeez..lol
Ugh..the Sacbee also sucks for not pointing out the gun laws here in CA that make access to weaponry anything but easy. Hypocritical statements from the mis-informed as well as a lazy media does nothing bu hurt 2A. Lets face it. Downtown Sac isn't exactly a hub of buzzing with people wanting to spend money. I now live in San Diego but grew up in Sac and I went to the downtown plaza and it was a ghost town at Christmas time. Why stop a potentially profitable business from opening because you are willfully ignorant of laws?

I might have to drive up and give them some Business. (ammo).
The SAC BEE has always been on the wrong side of our rights. Nothing new.
I wish this GUNSTORE the best.

From the same Wagner: Jim Wagner of PeraDice Cards & Gifts expressed concern that Hernandez and Figueroa have not reached out to the neighborhood or openly discussed their plans for a gun store.
I wasn't aware one had to ask neighbors or nearby shops if it is OK with them to open up a store of their choice.
You know, the best part about America is that you have a fundamental right to be upset AND to upset people.
However, "being upset" over something does not give you ANY additional rights.
In other words, be upset about the gun store. But otherwise, tough doo-doo.

except you don't see the media pick up on people being upset about other insignificant issues, they always use any angle they can get to attack gun owners

If she is so worried about bars and schools being too close to a gun shop, they never should have put the bars or schools there in the first place......

Ms. Studebaker,
Upon reading the article titled "Some neighbors upset by planned gun shop in midtown Sacramento" in the June 20, 2012 edition of the Sacramento Bee, I came across this quote attributed to you:
"The calls I've gotten have been about how this is a family-friendly district," said Elizabeth Studebaker of the Midtown Business Association. "Their primary concerns are around easy access to any kind of weaponry."
Both portions of the quote strike me as being slightly skewed.
First, firearm shooting is a enjoyable pastime for many families in California. I have personally taken my children out to learn about firearms and how to use them properly and safely. I have also done this for friends and their children as well. Each person with whom I have shared this experience has had a positive experience and commented on how they enjoyed the activity.
Second, the state government of California has some of the most strict firearm acquisition laws in the United States. I do not believe that anyone who attempts to legally obtain a firearm in California would take a view that the process was "easy".
I sincerely hope that M&J Gun Trade, which wishes to legally and lawfully sell its merchandise in the Midtown area, would have the full support of the Midtown Business Association during these difficult financial times. As I am sure you are aware, the support of an agency such as yours can dramatically assist a company during its first few years of business. Added revenue to the city's tax rolls, an occupied business, and more traffic to adjacent business sounds like a win for everyone.
Thank you,

Firearms and their related accessories and ammo must be selling like crazy these days, based on how hard to find some have become. Our numbers are growing, and the scented candle store owners are pissed. I've never been to that area of Sac, but I know the feeling of having to travel out of town just to buy what you want or need to enjoy a hobby. I suspect that as our numbers grow, more of these entrapanuers will face more of these antis' protests. People vote with their dollars.

Got a call from a Bee reporter last week asking me for comment, and did I know anything about it or had anything to say. Just said "awesome! Sac City needs more access to self protection methods"
They were fishing for controversy and are trying to create one. We call it a fakerovercy here in Sactown.
Congrats guys! Go for it.

Much better than all the "liberuls are soo dumb lol " idiotic posts every thread turns into.
Very nice to see someone who can articulate thoughts into a solid pro 2a argument.
Gun store in between a bunch of whiny liberal owned shops...love it! :D I'll have to stop by some day when I'm up there.

Old Sac Armory is gone?! That is sad. I used to love to browse that place, not sure how many guns I purchased there, more than once I wish I had purchased multiples. Their Thursday deals were great. I picked up a beautiful stainless Ruger Security Six for $179. I wish I had purchased a dozen of them... okay I wish I had purchased at least a second one of them.

Thats the solution, make guns and gun owners even more taboo by moving them outside of town or into industrial areas. They are treating us like we are criminals or druggies.
Maybe if I don't get my mail all my bills will just go away.
