Yes, I did search but did not find the answer I was looking for. :D

I mostly shoot Federal XM193, but since there is a shortage I went ahead and bought 1200 rounds of Federal AE223. My question is, being that both products are from Federal, what is the actual difference between xm193 and AE223? I would assume the FMJ 55g bullet is the same and identical for both loads, and obviously the big difference being the casing itself, but is there really any other difference between the two as far as the powder type/load and primer?

Google is your friend. Calguns search is your friend.

They're not the same load or projectile, but they both shoot straight. I've shot plenty of both depending on what I could get my hands on and never had any complaints with either.

Only use the caliber of ammo marked on the side of yur gun. Anything else might damage it or you.

You obviously don't realize that the ar15 can shoot multiple calibers therefor it must be better.

I own an AR-15 but i'm gonna stay out of the whole ar is better than ak or vice versa debate... but i will go ahead and say 1911 FTW :)

Glocks are great guns... dont get me wrong. The reliability and repeatability is unmatched, but theres just something nice about that colt... it fits me like a glove! :P

OP, they have a slightly different bullet, and the AE.223 makes a couple hundred fps less than the XM. Both should function fine in your rifle. You may notice a POI shift if you are sighted in for XM and switch to AE. Neither are match loads, but are great range rounds for target shooting and 99% of what most of us do with our rifles. I personally only buy and shoot XM193 unless I can't find it, then I go with AE.223 and it's good enough.

Happy shooting have fun.

WOW! how long have you been waiting to do that to someone?

If google had all the answers then forums like this wouldn't need to be around!

When you call your bank are you satisfied with the automated system or do you prefer speaking with a human?

It's too bad that all the 5.56/.223 self proclaimed gurus can offer you nothing more than a fake link to google.

If you didn't understand the OP question then you really don't need to feel obligated to post a junk reply!

Pretty much inline with that thread linked here from ar15.com.

Thanks for the info. With XM running in the .40 cent range, might have to start getting used to shooting more AE223 instead. Picked up 1200 rounds for .35 cents.

Upgrade to the 6.8 SPC II in 110gr and you won't have to deal with these questions.

And definitely Ginger...

AK chambered in 7.62 can shoot a .223... Ask me how I know.
