What is the difference between an AK 47 Drum Mag SGMT and an AK 47 Drum Mag PW?
I know they are illegal to use in CA and they won't be, that is not the question.

Not sure, on Exile Machine's website they have these 2 for sale at different prices but both are made in Korea, that is why I put up this post.

Looks like different importers, bringing in the same Korean clones. Just give them a call to confirm.

The Korean drums are pretty much junk, and not worth it. If you want a good AK drum get a Romanian or Chinese. Romanians can be had for about 100.00 and the Chinese twice that or more, but they are the best two options. You want the kind you can open and drop rounds in as opposed to the Russian style which the Koreans copy, and you have to load rounds one at a time (although it looks like those are copies of the Chinese style, still not reliable). I had some fun in Ohio last summer with some Romy 75 rounders!!

I prefer the Russian RPK ones myself. The Chinese ones look too close to an RPD drum to me. A drum would be 100% legal if blocked for 10 rounds.

Atlantic Firearms has one for sale but it doesn't say what kind it is, I can see that it opens up. Any thoughts?
OR does anyone know where I can get a Romy or Chinese?

if it opens from the back it is most likely a Romy or Chinese model. There may be other models that operate the same way, but those are the only two I have seen.

For obvious reasons (save for the occasional vendor with rebuild kits) you do not see these in Ca very often, but FWIW when out of state most of the ones I see are Romanian.

wouldn't you be able to use a drum on a featureless Ak?

I always thought a drum on a Draco would be soo badass:cool: (obviously not OK in CA)

good for laughs, but kinda kills the only advantage of an AK pistol, which is being handy

Sometimes shooting is just for fun. If I could have a full auto I would just for fun, I don't think it would be practical in a HD situation. Plus you have the whole "I can't have it, so I want it" that goes on in this state. I have a draco and a WASR 10.
