Looking into purchasing a S&W M&P 9mm after talking with a co-worker about his. Would appreciate any experiences from the folks here about theirs before i make a move. Thanks for your time...

i'd suggest you move your thread over to the "California handguns" section on Calguns; your questions and feedback requested will be better covered. i would also suggest that before starting a new thread on the subject... check to see if any current/recent threads on the S&W M&P 9mm are present that cover the information you are seeking.

you posted in the "New to Calguns" section where new members introduce themselves, and in turn are welcomed by the membership.

welcome to the forum.

Go to a range and rent one first.

Like bsg said, head over to the handgun section and be prepared to read.

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum,
Like David said , rent one and try it out. I tried one at the Corona show along with the cz75sp01. If your set at 9mm . Id get the CZ , The m&p is good but I didnt like the trigger .In the handgun section there is a lot of info and mods to fix this. like trigger upgrades. Also If you get the M&P 40 you can get the 9mm or 357 sig. conversion barrels . Alot more options with the M&P.:)

Buy the M&P and then talk to Scott or Randy about some of this sweetness. (https://apextactical.com/store/product-list.php?pg1-cid11.html)

Welcome, try different makes of 9mm, glock, sig, Cz, etc. see which one you like. I had MP9 they are good pistols. I like the glocks a little better for me and they are easy to work on and great shooters, sigs and cz are great shooting also. Good luck

Welcome to Calguns. My wife has an M&P 9. It's a good gun, but you have to see if it fits you. I personally feel the trigger sucks out of the box, but an Apex kit fixes nearly all of the issues with it in my opinion.

There is speculation that S&W will use their improved trigger design from the M&P shield in a next generation of M&P pistols. However, they would need to add a loaded chamber indicator (that CA would approve) for it to get on the roster. It could be years before that happens - IF it ever happens.

I will say it is damn near the most comfortable pistol we own as far as ergonomics.

I've an M&P 9C for carry and a M&P .40 that I'll slap a 9mm barrel into. The carry gun is bone stock and the .40 / 9mm has a complete APEX upgrade kit.

I think the M&P is an under rated and is a great gun. The 9c has never had a ftf or fte, ever. I've thousands of rounds through it since I practice with it constantly. The Apex upgraded gun is very nice but frankly I think I'd prefer the less aggressive trigger setup.

You may want to look into getting an m&p 40 and buying the S&W 9mm barrel and mags and you can buy the 357 sig barrel and use the mags that come with the 40 for it. That way you have 3 guns in one. I have a m&p 40 and I love it. I have bought the barrel, but I have yet to try it out. there are lots of info about using the stock S&W barrel instead of buying the 140 dollar storm lake "conversion barrel".
