Get a wooden dowel rod that is just small enough in diameter to fit your bore. Segment the rod into 5-6" pieces. Start inserting segments into the barrel from the muzzle end. Once you get enough segments in the barrel, you can begin tapping the obstruction out of the bore using a rubber mallet.

That's it.

*Don't be ****ing stupid and try this. You could kill yourself. You the wood dowel trick.

Just get a wire hanger and straighten it out. Then you heat one end and burn the patch out. Very simple.

I usually take it out to the shop and blow it out with the air compressor. Just be careful where it is pointing if there is a cleaning jag stuck in there too… they come out fast.

if it's that bad take it to a gunsmith. wouldn't want to damage the barrel would you?

I reiterate, wood dowel. Segment it. Tap out with rubber mallet.

This is same method you would use to tap out a squib or a slug when slugging the bore.

Yep, OCABJ is spot on. Using the dowel is the safest way.

Do not stick anything in the barrel that could damage the rifling like a coat hanger
Listen to ocabj and key in on the part about the dowel diameter being as close the the barrel size as possible

For my target pistols, I purchased brass tubes that slide easily into the bore. I also found some brass rods that fit inside the tubes. One of the rods is aluminum because I couldn't find a brass one.

If I ever get anything stuck in the barrel, I place a leather pad on the breach face of the slide, slide the tube down the barrel first, then use the rod to tap on the obstruction.

Why segment the dowel? So you aren't don't have a long piece outside of the barrel that is unsupported and may snap?

The only thing the gunsmith will do differently, is maybe not let you see them using the mallet.

What size bore? Get a brass rod just under the diameter of your bore. I have a 36" .20 rod that I keep around just in case.

They are available in your local hardware store.

Well, my advice would be to step away from the gun for a bit. You are frustrated and might do something to hurt the barrel. Try the compressed air trick, although it sounds like it's wedged in there pretty good. If not, take it to a smith. Good luck.

its a HOWA 308. i just tried a brass rod.. i was thinking what if i cork one end and i put a lil bleach in the barrel ... will that eat away at the metal ?? or just eat up the fabric.

Anyone know a good smith in the 310 Los angeles area/? :(

I'm in Culver City.

If I have to, I can make up a patch-puller type screw on the end of a 1/4" brass rod.

Bring it over some evening.
I work in my shop from 7pm to 10pm during the week.

im really hoping that the barrel was not damaged.. just in case is there any way to re-barrel the barrel if its a little scratched?

Culver city is not even far.

I recently had a frangible bullet get stuck in the barrel of my SOCOM16, I wish I would've read this thread sooner. I didn't know about the whole dowel trick :( . Instead I got my cleaning rod, carefully guided it down the barrel, and pushed the living crap out of it with no progress what so ever. So after 10 minutes of that I kinda just gave up. I picked up my rifle and let the rod just drop down, *plink* to my surprise the bullet popped out. I'm no physics major here, so correct me if I'm wrong but I think suspending the rifle did the trick. I'm guessing the lack of support caused most of the force to hit the bullet rather than dissipate through the stock/floor.

As for the barrel, I don't think I damaged the barrel too much. I took it to ASR the next day and was still able to shoot 1" groups @ 25 yds.

You could use a patch puller. They make them in different sizes for black power rifles.

one thing that might work is to lube, lube, lube it up.

if that patch is dry in there it will really resist pulling out.

but if its all oiled up it might just slip right out.

How about compressed air?

Drop a flaming match down the barrel?

Or it might just cause the patch to swell as it absorbs oil and wedge tighter :)
