Just bought one of these and was wondering what I could do the make it lower 1/3 cowitness. Anybody have any tricks.154513 Don't suggest an Aimpoint with Laure mount unless your buying.

Theres gotta be some sort of rail riser that'll allow 1/3 cowitness.. Someone will chime in

The issue I see is the back of that optic is raised, which will probably interfere with a lower 1/3rd cowitness.

You could try a 1/2in riser and I believe that will esentially make it a cowitness. I have an Eotech 517 and that has a built in 7mm riser and unfortunately, I found out that the 7mm riser does not exist lol or if it does, I still cant find one. I wanted a riser for a standard height FTS magnifier mount to go behind the eotech. I finally wfigured out a solution but it involved me changing mounts (which you cant do in this case). Is the red dot currently absolute co-witnessed? Something like this might work if it is....

If its not absolute cowitness now, a taller riser might be the solution. Hope this helps and good luck figuring something out!

Tom, what do you mean by it will interfere? You mean he wont be able to simultaneously use his BUIS and red dot?

I have a 517 and I used a YHM EOTech riser (http://yhm.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_8&products_id=60&zenid=619def3096a65f71155f138c0fba2d6e) to mount my magnifier and FTS mount. I imagine this same riser could be used for any RDS that is an absolute cowitness to get a 1/3 cowitness. A 1/2 inch riser would be too tall.

Don, how did you do that? Im not trying to threadjack here, but all the EOtech risers I found were for the Eotech sights themselves. I was trying to raise the magnifier mount 7mm to coincide on the same plane as the EOtech.

I just used the riser for the mount instead of the EOTech. I had to cut it down some with a dremel but it wasn't a big deal. As you can tell from the picture there is no room for BUIS. I have bad eyes so I don't use iron sights anyway so no big deal for me.
In all honesty Primary Arms has a high FTS mount now that the didn't have when I did this. It would be a better and less expensive way to go.

Yeah thats the mount I was looking at as well... I considered getting it, but it has been out of stock for so long. I found that mount around 3 weeks ago and its still not in stock. When I emailed PA (two days ago), they said I could be around 2 weeks, so i started looking for alternatives. I ended up getting a QD Weaver 30mm aimpoint mount with 1/3 cowitness. I know the height may be slightly different, but it was only 40 bucks on sale and free shipping, so I figured Id give it a shot. Well see what happens! :)

I understand about no BUIS. by putting that magnifier on, there is such little room for a BUIS. I may be able to fit one, but it would definitely have to be a low profile sight. I may try a magpul on mine since theyre low and actually affordable.

I dont know if the EOtech riser would work for the OP... The spacing of the weaver tie downs may not be correct, but it could definitely work if the spacing does. If youre worried about the spacing not working, I know Ive seen a rear fixed sight (normal ar-15 height) and the sight has a 7mm riser weaver rail for the eotech. Ill look and see if I can find a link. This would give you lower 1/3 cowitness but the Rear iron sight wouldnt be foldable.

I think this would work if you like the setup... Then you could sell me your magpul rear sight! :-P

That would definitely work. It seems to be a shame to have to spend $150 on a mount to make a $20 sight work.

Yep lol thats the situation I was in with my 5X magnifier and FTS mount lol. I spent the rear doughe on an EOTech and no way I can afford a magnifier more expensive than the EO, so I got an ebay special and surprisingly the magnifier is superb quality but the mount is a POS. Spending 150 bucks on a larue for a 50 dollar magnifier did not feel right lol so I went with that Weaver.

Sorry man, I looked and American Defense also makes an eotech mount. It is QD with 7mm riser for eotech 1/3 cowitness but that costs 100 bucks.

Your best bet is probably the YHM riser but that might need a little customization lol

I'm going to try the YHM 1/2" riser. Cheap enough for the experiment. I will let you know how it goes.

1/2" is too high. 7mm is what you need. 7mm is very close to 1/4"
