Finally the wait is almost over. Seven months from start of trust paperwork to approval from ATF. Now the 10-day wait begins.

I got mine over a year ago and the wait then was about for weeks. The new system sucks.

It will look similar to this without the side saddle when I am done changing the stock grip. Picture from www.ebrworks.com website:

http://www.ebrworks.com/images/33065728_algd.png

Specs: 12.5" barrel. 4+1 rounds. Optional 8-round side saddle from Mesa Tactical available.

Cost of trust paperwork: $600
NFA stamp: $5.00
Cost of gun: $579.00 plus sales tax and DROS
Two round trips to Ventura: $300 in gas

Having an NFA AOW 870 handgun in California: Priceless

Jesus ****ing christ! All that time for that lil thing?
Hey, it sure is cute and I would like to see it in person or hold one but the only REAL difference is the shorter barrel correct? I have one of those ducks head handles for either a 590 or 870 but it would not work in my configuration.

But, if it really was all of that for just a barrel then WOW. Really sad and pathetic that we let this state do this to us... :(

Hey who did the trust paperwork? I was wanting to do that to get a judge or something a little nastier maybe.

$5.00 stamp? Wow, postage has gone WAY up... :O

Okay, final line, Nice. Please post pics of the real deal.

OP will not be having a "9mm vs 45" dilemma for home protection at all.

It's not CA, it's the Federal government. CA makes it a tad harder, but it's a PITA and an expensive process in any state. As to the $5 stamp, that's a bargain (it's a tax stamp, not postage). The stamp for SBR/SBS, suppressors, or other NFA transfers is $200 instead of $5...

OP, congratulations, it looks awesome! I've been debating getting one myself. I've already got a trust for some other toys, and have been wanting to SBS an 870. I can't decide if I want to pay $200 and have a short truck gun or pay $5 and have a blaster/toy. I guess I have plenty of time to decide, at the moment I can't afford even the AOW stamp and I just sold my 870. :p

The state of Ca has nothing to do with it. For the last 90 or so years, Federal law has required one jumps through hoops for one of these.

The "stamp" is a tax stamp and has nothing to do with postage.

I suggest studying about NFA firearms for a good while before you jump into them. It appears that your knowledge of the subject is severly lacking.

It's .45 for me and if I can add the AOW to my CCW, then the firepower rig:

I've always thought that rig was awesome. Someday I'm going to go shoot a Cape Buff, then send part of the hide to Andrews to make me a belt and holster set. I'd really like a rig made out of something I killed. Just seems BAMF. :p He's got a lot of nice leather. I wouldn't mind a Monarch with the fighting knife holster either. :43:

Technically, you can add an AOW to a CA LTC permit.

Since it is a License To Carry a pistol, revolver or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person [PC 26150(a)] and a firearm capable of being concealed upon the person is a firearm with a less than 16" barrel [PC 16530(a)].

Hard part is to convince your issuing agency to allow it.

Penal Code 16530
(a) As used in this part, the terms "firearm capable of being concealed upon the person," "pistol," and "revolver" apply to and include any device designed to be used as a weapon, from which is expelled a projectile by the force of any explosion, or other form of combustion, and that has a barrel less than 16 inches in length. These terms also include any device that has a barrel 16 inches or more in length which is designed to be interchanged with a barrel less than 16 inches in length.

Any word on the BATF's move towards eliminating the CLEO approval requirement? Heard rumours this was slated for "sometime in 2012".

Eliminates a pita step.

congratulations on making it through the months of NFA jail time. the 10 days CA jail drives me insane. on the 9th day i am counting down the hours till i can bail out my new gun, and i usually don't get much sleep. i cant imagine what a 7 month wait must feel like.

Yeah I did the same thing when I bought my Glock and AR...then Michael opened the safe and let me fondle his Browning 1919...let me say that had the girlfriend not been there to c*ck block me, I would have whipped out the Amex right then and there to get another DROS started immediately. It still haunts my dreams...along with those AOWs! DAMN YOU EBR!!!

Does an NFA or gun trust need to file an annual tax return?
