Whats up with ak prices? Other than saiga?
They are said to be cheap to make but now more than an AR to buy?
Local shops are 900 bucks for a freakin AK,why are they getting so expensive?
Makes me glad i bought my Draco 6 mnths ago for 500, they are much more now

They got popular.

You can still buy them for around 400-500 online for a few variants of rifles.

Supply and demand. Isn't capitolism great!

Edit: Maybe it's time for me to sell a few?????? What are you looking for? I think I have a Romy G, a Romainian kit with all E. German furniture and an AMD63 all on Nodak receivers. I might even part with a WASR.

Surplus AK mags are going through the roof too. What was once $10 is more like $20-$25 now.

Im looking for just a reliable ak non saigaIn the 500 range. At the going prices ill either wait or pass. I see a new "certified" century at henderson for 589, but by the time i ship it from NV and my dealer screws me it will be closer to 700

Build your own gets you the quality you want, knowledge and experience but, it's not really cheaper now a days unless, you populate your own virgin barrels. Then, you might save $100 or so.

Go to a shop and inspect an AK pattern if you can...DSA in San Diego and Turners here in Irvine/ LA area (WASRs mostly)...You are good to go if you know what to look for. Also, yes, building has its merits but I can disassemble and put together my AK patterns as well.

Prices went up but not as bad as CA...Outside of CA they went up but retailers here are nuts...I posted on AKfiles that I got my WASR for under $350...Came here to CA and it was was $450...Now I see them for $570.

AK pattern profile is a reliable rifle that can do 2-5 MOA at 100 meters...Which is 109 yards...I average consistently below 2 (3 Shots) more if I go (5 shot group). I still have some Saiga guys I am waiting to show up to show me how much better a Saiga is :43::43: SLOSA or Chabot.

Good luck on your search...DAS is awesome by the way.

I keep doing the spreadsheets and a Romy G and build party looks like more than buying WASR and some others.

What have you got CSACANNONEER? I'd be interested in something and I'm near you in Ventura Co.

The cost will continue to raise as you read this. I paid a pretty penny also but I don't complain because I know it will be more in a few months or a year. Same apply to most ammo. Hoard while you can

I paid$780 for my wasr from local ffl
Built my own for $600 not including any recent accessory purchases
Not much savings considering it took me about 13hrs to make

$780 for a WASR! Are you interested in buying a bridge or ocean front property in South Dakota?

Lol...yeah, $780 for a WASR is a travesty.

He probably bought a "certified" WASR, paid for shipping, tax, and the DROS

I was at turners (great store not talking bad about them at all) the other day, and the WASR they on display had rust on the mouth of the receiver, and a very sticky moment on the charging handle.

I think I got my Conversion Saga (via Century arms) for a little over 600. I could not do the conversion myself for that price.

WOW!!! That is alot for a WASR. 13hrs!!!! My time is $$$ That is not worth it to me. However, as long as you like both your rifles you did good.

Depends but yeah...I did the price...It is a bit more if you factor time. My time is not cheap.

That would have been cosmoline not rust. People never factor time in. That is they make it sound cheap...I can put up a Chandelier in my house which I did in my dining room and take 4 hours or pay $110 or have 2 installers do it in an hour and a half...Not worth my time at all. My weekends are for shooting and my family, friends, and dogs. To each his own...

I got my Saiga 223 for 450, converted it sme out to about 550 cause I had Spair parts.
My Saiga 308 for 430 and converted costed me about 600 because it was before I had all these parts.
And a polish PMKMS for 500. Build kit :-)

AKs are going up in price and it sucks. Why couldn't people stick to thinking they are bad guns so the prices can go down so people like me can buy em?!

Not as bad as they were. In 2008-2009, single stack wasr was going for $800

Damn i want an ak really bad. But the price is pretty expensive these days.
I may just buy parts kit and build it up slowly. Well i would need to find someone who has all the tools and what not

Dont_Shoot_im_Chinese

You don't need tools of your own if you go to a calgun build party

WHAT!!! In 2008 they were $320 shipped by AIM to an FFL with a $10 or 20 background check in WA. Double stack, 2 mags, sling, bayonet, and cleaning rod...LOL.

Some of you on here need to assess who you vote for next time. It's not about guns...Its about your rights.

Just saw a WASR locally for over $700. Yeah, no.

Well it was 699.99 plus fees.....and at the time that was the only store, and still the only store within 40miles that has one. So if u want one(an ak) u have to pay for one...unfortunately no way around that. I do love the guns, they are awesome, i built the pistol and this is the wasr

Even I would not buy one. You can get a PAP at DAS for a few bills more and at that point that is the better rifle.

Well if any of you SoCal guys have an AK that you want to sell, I'm actively looking. PM me, I'm ready for one.
I keep seeing the WASR's at turners on sale but I don't know much about them. 1/2 the people I talk to say they're great and the other 1/2 say they are crap. Care to enlighten me on the truth?

it's also an election year, so the prices of all guns and ammo go up in price. things will settle a bit more once the new year comes in.
