Wanted to find a range that allows these rounds to be used in the bay area.

When was the last time you shot those rounds at the sunnyvale range? I called them today and asked them and the guy paused and responded with "we prefer not to have those rounds". Didn't want to look like an idiot when I get there and all of a sudden they no longer allow the bi or steel core. Thanks!

Chabot doesn't have restrictions on steel jacketed or steel core ammo.

Gtg at usi in concord and los altos. Only outdoor range I can think of with strict ammo rules in bay is Optimist in San Leandro (soft point only, no steel case either)

Went to concord a couple of weeks ago and its listed on their handout that steel core is not permitted. Thanks!

I've never had any rifle range check my ammo in the bay area, but i always bring regular ammo in addition to my cheaper bi-metal stuff just in case.

You may have confused the guy with your silly questions. They have not asked me what type of ammo or ever checked and I've not seen them kick anyone out due to the wrong ammo. Then again, I've not seen anyone shoot the real (black-tip) armor piercing rounds or tracers there either.

From what I've seen all of the ranges with ammo restrictions are in so-cal due to the fire restrictions. I've not seen any ammo restrictions at the ranges in nor-cal.
