Got bored today and decided to test my hand loads on some one gallon milk jugs filled with water.

Weapon Used: 14.7" perm attached PSA Middy

52gr Hornady BTHP- Penetrated first jug (completey shredded it) and ripped open second jug but failed to completely penetrate. 14.2 grains of fragments were recovered from the second jug.

60gr Hornady SP- Destroyed first jug, penetrated through second jug and impacted third jug but failed to penetrate. Core and jacket were recovered in second jug with a retained weight of 32.7 gr

And as a control I tested Brown Bear 62gr SP - This is the only round that made it into the 3rd jug. The core and jacket were recovered from the 3rd jug with a retained weight of 46.7gr. There was no impact on the rear end of the 3rd jug

I will perform future tests with heavier bullets such as 70gr TSX and 75gr BTHP

*I was pleased with the performance of the Brown Bear 62gr SP considering the low cost!

From what distance? (Kind of matters.)
And what powders/charges?
And this should be in "Ammo and Reloading," no?

Distance was 15 feet (I got soaked!)

The 52gr load was being pushed by a 25.0gr charge of H355 with a cci 450 primer

The 60gr load was being pushed by a 24.0gr charge of H355 with a cci 450 primer

I will eventually get a chronograph to see what kind of velocities my barrel is getting

Perhaps I should have posted in Ammo and Reloading, forgive me I am new here haha

I like it. Waiting for more results hopefully with commercial bought ammo like M193, M855, etc.
