I am from Martinez Ca.. (EastBay) and i am looking to own a handgun of some sort. I want something not with a lot of kick but with a lot of stopping power but of course at a reasonable price lol.. Any ideas? I would really appreciate it!:2guns: :mnl:

Go to an indoor range that rents pistols. See what fits your hand. Try different calibers. Then check out local Calgunner merchants for your purchase. We need to support our local shops.

Good luck.

Welcome. As you learn more about handguns you'll find that there is no one gun that fits every requirement. What is "not a lot of kick" to you maybe a lot to someone else. The recommendation to try a number of different guns and see what fits you is the best advice.

Ignore the people who jump in and tell you to buy brand X gun, chambered in X caliber, since they don't know you or your capabilities are just projecting their preferences which may or may not meet your requirements.

handguns by their nature are made as a compromise (power vs portability)
stopping power irt handgun ammo is a myth

I like glocks, and if you don't they keep their resale value pretty well. That or buy used to begin with :)

Handguns don't have "a lot of stopping power". Unless you are talking about the really powerful cartridges like .44mag and up.

Get training.

welcome to calguns. +1 on going to a range to try things out. target masters and reeds has rentals and they are in the south bay. I recommend starting out with a 9mm but try different calibers to see what you like. However in the end shot placement is key. Buy lots of ammo for practice
