Of all sources I could find not one is doing Kydex grip wraps for featureless builds in any thing but black. Maybe Henry Ford would approve but something to match FDE or OD would be nice.

I guess you could always make your own

My guess is that becuase people buying kydex wraps are more worried about function, rather than matching colors.

Just my opinion.

They make different colors and the guys rifle that inspired me to do one looks like carbon fiber.

+1 for knifekits.com. They have a really good selection of Kydex and the prices are pretty good. Kydex is surprisingly easy to work with. When your wife catches you baking sheets of it in her oven though, things can get difficult... :D

black is ususally cheaper than the colors. especially the recycled kydex sheets,

Enamel paint, Duracoat and many others will work just fine. It's only plastic, paint it.

Hey FMJBT,

That's a great looking grip wrap, any interest in making one for me? I want to do kydex but I have no tools to do it other than a oven in the kitchen.

It's a niche product that very few people buy. That's why.

If you build Kydex gear in medium-to-large quantities, you'll be hard-pressed to find a vendor that will sell less than a full sheet of 4'x8' of Kydex.

"Tactical" colors are not typically stocked by vendors, which means they will charge an additional fee for custom-ordering a sheet or half-sheet in your color. Bottom line, the people who work with Kydex have to spend significantly more upfront without knowing if the colors will sell....

I did a run of tan mag carriers (http://www.gebhardsolutions.com/gebhard_solutions_kydex) - well over a year later, I still have not used up all the blanks that were cut from a custom ordered 1/2 sheet.

What kind of spray paint to use? I like to paint my black Solar Tactical SCAR Kydex wrap into FDE/Tan color or close as possible. Thanks

I'm not sure if I got your question right, but here is the Kydex Color Palette:

A friend gave me this tip:
You can use the Brownells Aluma-Hyde II for FDE.

A mixture of Coyote and Matte Clear (for durability) turns out to be a pretty good match:

What would be really cool is a CLEAR grip wrap!

Home made clear fin grips have been done before.
