Palmetto State Arms has lower build kits for $149.95 in two flavors that I'm interested in:

Magpul ACS-L Carbine Stock (http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-build-kit-sale/psa-acs-l-lower-build-kit-black.html)

Magpul STR Carbine Stock (http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-build-kit-sale/psa-str-lower-build-kit-black.html)

Everything else is pretty much the same between them. MOE Grip/Trigger Guard, milspec buffer tube assembly, lower receiver parts, etc. Really comes down to the stock.

So, which would you choose?

I have an STR stock and am not all that impressed, the standard MOE seems just as solid to me. I have an ACS (non L) on another rifle and that one is something special - awesome cheek weld there. I'd go for the ACS-L kit based on my experience.

How the heck is the cheek weld any different from the STR to the ACS?

I just got the STR and I like it. Much wider for a more comfortable cheek weld than the standard CTR or MOE. I think the only difference between the STR and the ACS-L is the STR has the battery tubes and the ACS has the little side compartment to fit spare parts. The STR has a QD mounting point that can be swapped to the left or right.

I have an ACS. A little on the heavy side but overall a very nice stock with awesome cheek weld. I think for my next build I'm going to try vltor or the STR

The ACS-L is outta stock, so that should make it easier. Really wish PSA would carry Vltor.

Just ordered the STR myself. I was debating between the two and the out of stock made the decision easier!
