Heyas,

Have you seen this new stock from Magpul (http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG460/shotgun)? It's a stock for a Remington 870 with adjustable LOP and cheek riser.

I mention it because it would seem to make the 870 model an even better bargain for a beginner trap/skeet shotgun wouldn't it? I mean "half" the time a nicely adjusted shotgun (with comb and correct LOP) is what helps make a good clay busting shotgun an even nicer one....

IMO, it is the butt ugliest buttstock on the market. There is just no way it goes on my gun. As usual, YMMV.

 Apart from aesthetics...

I guess my question would be, would it be a functional stock for an 870 for a starting clay shooter on a budget.

Personally I think it looks awesome.

I certainly can't think of any reason it wouldn't be functional, but then again, I've never shot clays. Buy it and tell us how it goes!

I've been waiting for them to finally release it, bought the forend pump and stock yesterday, should have it Monday. Looks a little different but I like the way it looks.

I'm sorta mixed on it...I love the way the grip looks but I'm on the fence about the stock. I'll likely wait a few weeks and see what everybody else says =) Til then I'll stick to my hogue stock/grip.

Never shouldered this stock, seeing as it is brand new... But yeah, compared to getting a custom fit stock it looks extremely cost effective to me.

Before you buy.....will this stock adjust to your needs? What adjustments are you looking to makein your stock?

If your free on the 16th ......come join the Skeet Clinic @ Metcalf Shooting Range in San Jose

Basic stock fit for you is one of the things we go over....you can learn a bunch in 4 hours and have fun dusting clays.

the grip is badass, the stock is a little bulky but not bad

I'm looking at it for skeet!! I like the adjustability.

It looks like a pistol grip that grew an oversized tumor.

That said, it looks like the ergonomics might be pretty nice. But, in my opinion, any ergonomic improvement wouldn't outweigh the pure fuglyness at a $110 price tag. I'll stick with the stock... stock.

I got to play with it at the SHOT Show and think it's pretty comfortable.

The only thing that will make it better is the ORANGE version. Coming soon according to the Magpul website...
