View Full Version : WTS/WTT: Baikal IJ-70 9x18 Russian Makarov

I'm new to California and have decided to sell my Russian IJ-70 since I'm pretty sure that I don't want it anymore and would like to find a new handgun. The owner before me was in Oregon and put ~500 rounds through it; I have only put 50 through it since I acquired it in Michigan in the summer of 2006. The gun is marked with a proper Americanized serial number and was imported by KBI, Inc. The Makarov also has adjustable sights unlike the common fixed ones on the surplus Makarovs. I bought this gun expecting to shoot it a lot and ended up getting a USP Compact shortly thereafter; the USP has become my most used shooter and the Makarov has just been resting around in a case.

The Mak will include three magazines + 50 rounds of TCW (Russian-made) ball ammunition as well as a nylon IWB holster from Makarov.com. The stock recoil spring has been replaced by a stiffer Wolff spring and the cheap plastic grip replaced with a Pearce ergonomic grip that is substantially thicker than the common Mak grip.

Pistol is in very good condition with some holster wear on the front of the slide. See picture below for more details.

I really have no idea how much Makarovs go for in California, and I haven't registered the gun with the DOJ yet (and will if I need to before making a PPT.)

I'm asking $300. You pay PPT fee. I'm located in San Francisco (Western Addition / NoPA) but work in Silicon Valley.

I'm also open for trades, since I'm wanting to get rid of this gun for something else. I'm interested in a whole lot of things, right now looking to get a new rifle (.22LR, .223, or 7.62x39) or a pump-action shotgun (12ga., built for self-defense-type applications), so things within an approximate price range there might work as well.

Man I like those grips... I'd trade my Pearce rubber one for a grip like that...

Skinny like the red-star grips but not "captain-obvious" red.... sweet.

Good luck on the sale

As I know only Bulgarian or Hungarian Maks are OK to sell in California.
Check the handgun rooster (http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/safeguns_resp.asp)
So, I think it is OK to sell it out - to the normal states. :44:

Umm,I am pretty sure handguns that are brought into Ca. by new residents can be sold PPT without being on that stupid list.
