so, I'm thinking of getting a Winchester M70 Super Grade... wish they had more calibers to choose from, but don't like the magnums so it's either the 270 Win or the 30-06 Spfld... what would be the iconic M70 caliber choice of the two... I'd get one of each if I wouldn't end up in the dog house, you know how that goes...

.30-06. More versatile.

If I ever had a rifle in .270 it would be a Model 70.
I have a M70 in .270WIN,.270WBY, & 06'. I love my .270s and they can and have killed a lot of game but the 06' will be more versatile if you decide to go after larger game such as Elk, Moose, or Bear. I just want to get this straight, .270 can get the job done but the 06' will allow you to shoot heavier loads. Either way you will have a great rifle. Good luck with your Purchase!

The .30-'06 is more versatile: it can do everything that the. 270 can do, plus it's available in heavier bullets. Love my Model 70 in. 30-'06.
