View Full Version : FN SLP 18" Owners. I have a question

I just brought my SLP home and tried to load some 2 3/4 Shells and I couldn't get it to take all 6?
So here is what I tried to load. Wolf 9 pellet 00 buck. I put a tape to it and it measures 2 1/2 inches and I could only get 5 shells in.
The second thing I tried to load was wold slugs which measure 2 1/4 inches long and it took all 6.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Don't bust my chops on the wolf ammo...

Wolf is know for being longer than normal.... Common problem

That may be true, but I took measurements of the shells and it was only 2 1/2 inches long.

Pull the spring out and reassemble. Some of my semi autos do stuff like this.

OK, Did that and still issues. it appears that there is a cap at the end to hold the spring in place that may be restricting that last 1/2 inch that I think I would need to get them all in

Try other brands of shells..... As you've discovered, Wolf buck runs long.

I can't even put in 8 Winchester (owned by FNH) PDX1 shells into a 22" FN SLP (supposedly 8+1 capacity) and they are just slightly longer than 2 1/4".
When you want to max load your shotguns, you have to actually load them up.
Different brands, different lengths. try a variety of brands,
My SLP MK1 has always accepted 8 in the tube, but I also trim my mag spring down a little too.
2 3/4" shot shells are measured after they are shot.

Really? I guess that would make sense to some degree.
