I'm contemplating a built with a rifle that would have a folding stock. With the components I have available, the rifle would be short the 30 inch minimum when folded. Can I machine and install a barrel extension to get it to the needed length? If so, how do I have to attach this to ensure I legal. Thanks!

Yes you can. Just put the barrel extension on, no welding needed.

I'd make sure it just doesn't fall off when you shoot it :p. The attachment requirements to make a barrel 16" are the ones that are strict.

Thanks, the barrel is already 16", it's just the over all length. Can I get way with threading it on and using loctite to keep it from falling off? :D

thread it on with a crush washer as the spacer. You won't need loctite.
