I've been thinking of getting my AR-15 engraved with my whole name in honor of my father (I'm a JR.) does anyone know where I can get this done in California? Thanks in advance!

JD machine does it on lowers, I had a custom lower done for a friend as a groomsmen gift.

Good luck.

Do they have a website or some way I can contact them?

Call around for local engravers. You'll either be looking at mechanical engraving or laser engraving/etching.

Laser etching is done with can either be very superficial (laser etching), just deep enough to remove the anondization or deeper than the 0.003 inches requred by the FTA for manufactured markings (laser engraving). There is a limit to how deep they can go with a laser. If you want it much deeper, you'll want to look at mechanical engraving...which is deep enough to do color backfill.

Any local shop who can do engraving for trophies, plaques, or signs can likely do engraving for your your reciever. They'll have to have an FFL to take posession of your lower receiver, but some will do the work while you wait. Anything else, uppers, magazines, etc. aren't part of the firearm and shouldn't be as much of a problem.

These guys did my AK receiver.... they did a great job. They however dont have an FFL so unless its an 80% you have to swing in and have them do it while you wait. They are located in Fresno. I plan on having them do all of my work from now on. He had my receiver back to be WAY before I expected it and shipped it for half as much as I paid to get it to him. lol

They do laser engraving in anaheim. You just have to stick around if you are bringing in a firearm because they are not an FFL.
