First off, I know that sr25's are illegal in cali, but i was wondering what oll (if any) would fit a Sr25 upper?
I know its nearly impossible to find a sr 25 upper, but in the off chance i do, i would like to know what my lower options are. Ive searched for the last 5 days on this forum and others to find the answer, still no luck. :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks - lazy . .

The SR25 build is based on the AR10 style receivers but take DPMS style mags. Is it possible to just use the AR10 style lower for it and use AR10 mags for it? Not sure.

I am almost positive I have seen people with Larue OBR or LMT MWS lowers using KAC uppers.

I have an early, first production run SR-25. Knight uses their own proprietary design the way the upper fits the lower. I've wanted an aftermarket lighter weight, carbine upper for my, but from what I understand, I would have to buy a Knight's, nothing else would fit.

For the O/P, I'd put in a call or e mail to Larue and LMT and see if their upper/ lowers will interchange with the SR-25's. It would be nice if they do.

KAC allegedly makes the LMT MWS receivers, or at least the lower receiver. I am positive that they fit. I also believe that the Larue should fit, and it is possible that MEGA receivers fit.

There are newer companies with receivers in the works that have the AR-10 type cuts in the rear of the receivers that take SR-25 mags.

And remember, Armalite is/will be making the AR-10A rifles that take SR-25 magazines and thus should be fully compatible.

The LMT MWS and the Larue OBR use the SR25 pattern receivers so their lowers will interchange with KAC uppers. There are several people on this forum with LMT lowers and KAC uppers. :)

check out cmmg, they used to make so many different options for 308 ARs on what upper they fit and what mags it took.

I checked with a local smith and he said that cmmg makes a model that with accept a sr-25 upper. thanks for the input

AFAIK, they only made DPMS type receivers. I believe they once made a receiver that takes DPMS receivers and uses HK G3 mags, and they still make DPMS receivers which take the SR-25 mags.

The easiest way to tell if it is NOT compatible with an SR-25 is looking at the rear of the receiver. If it has a "radiused" cut, then it is DPMS. If it has a "slash" cut, then it is either Armalite, SR-25, or other type.

Armalite is releasing an AR-10 SR-25 type that will take SR-25/DPMS mags.

I'm excited for this, and I wonder what will be stamped on the lower. If it's too risky, then hopefully there will be one in Eagle Arms form as well.

Unfortunately it looks like it will say AR-10 (T) at least on paper:

I looked at the picture in the PDF closely and saw that the new lower will say AR-10A (T).

Is "AR-10A" too close to "AR-10" to be considered safe?

So will any radiused cut lower receivers work? besides the one mentioned above ive also noticed aero lowers, noveske, and mega arms all have the ar10 style receiver.. My thought is the more i can save on the lower, the more I can put into the rest of the gun.

Too close for comfort for me.

The AR-10 lower that takes waffle SR-25 or DPMS mags is different than the one that takes Armalite mags. The magwell is different for one. Here is the explanation in differences:

Why not just go through a middle man to have an SR25 (drool) BBed before entering the state.

Everything is illegal without a BB in CA.

SR25's are sick as hell... and sub moa out of the box!

Because "SR-25" is banned by name in CA, so having it BB'd won't make a difference. :( This is the reason why people use LMT MWS lower receivers with KAC uppers in CA as they are nearly identical to the KAC one except for the markings.

No. Well, actually, they may fit but there will be an open gap like this because the SR-25 lowers are not radiused like the DPMS type receivers:

Even if they "fit," I don't know if the rifle will function properly.

GOOD NEWS!

According to the second post on this link, the Mega Ma-Ten is Larue compatible and thus SR-25 compatible. So buying Mega receivers should be the cheapest route
