I don't know if this has been posted before, but I just saw it the first time and think it is great.

Well done, I like how he continually talks about how cosmetic appearance does not indicate actual function and that it's easy for people, particularly the media, to get confused by simple looks.

That is an OLD video. Leroy was forced to resign, without retirement, from the San Jose Police Dept years ago after this was made. He made this video in response to SJPD Chief McNamara's (in full dress uniform) making a video against assault weapons. Leroy's mistake of identifying himself as a SJPD officer and wearing a partial uniform ended his career. Last I heard he was living in Chicago area (go figure) and was an NRA training counselor. But it has been at least 8 years since I have heard anything about him. He was also very vocal in the NRA back around the same time.

Still very good info on "assault" weapons.

Ah, there it is!

I went looking for it the other day and didn't find it. Thanks.

It's from 1989-1990, and the officer got in a bunch of trouble with his department.

Yup. He made his chief look bad to the public, so he got fired. Police chiefs are political official. Not LEOs. Look at the history of the LAPD, Chicago PD, NYPD, and so many others. Being chief is politics, not law enforcement.

I figured it was old, but hadn't seen it and thought other might not have seen it either. I also figured he got in trouble for this, had no idea he actually got forced out. What a shame.

If this is true, what a shame.

So much for freedom of speech. It is sad when we live in a world where you can only express your opinion anonymously. (I know the government is trying to take that away too).

He made a great video and I wish we could bombard (for lack of a better expression) the general public with great well articulated factual information like this.

New it was going to be Leroy before I clicked. Great guy, met him a bunch of times. He owns the Paul Revere Network (http://www.paulrevere.org/) (used to be the Paul Revere BBS to give you an idea of how ahead of the curve he was on leveraging technology). Haven't heard from him in a couple years. Need to look him up.

Because he spoke truth?

Wow.

Corruption everywhere.

Leroy's personal site here: http://www.leroypyle.net/about_us.htm (caution, annoying autoplay music)

Another site: http://2ampd.net/Articles/Pyle/Pyle.htm

And, a NYT article on the McNamara/Pyle dustup: http://www.nytimes.com/1990/06/21/us/police-chief-vs-officer-symbolic-rift-on-guns.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm

I'm enjoying the opportunity to learn more about Leroy and that situation, but that might actually be the worst website I've ever seen ever. Just, wow. The intent and content is good, but the design is not. Totally unrelated to his and our fight for RKBA, just sort of funny.
