Hi, everyone. Noob here, I wanted to ask if anyone else is experiencing long wait
times in regards to an AR from Spikes Tactical out of Florida? Thanks.

yeh, I was going to place an order with them but I was curious to see if they charge your cc when you place an order or when it ships, so I sent an email, the guy that responded said they charge your cc when you place an order, so I bought else where.

I ordered a stripped lower back on Feb 3. Come May 3rd I canceled my order and bought local. Plenty of other places with same/better quality parts that have parts in stocks.

Op what do you have on order?

I ordered the ST Vanguard in 5.56, and yes they do charge your cc.

I bought my Spikes lower locally at a gun store back in December for $99. They had them in stock. I was told at the time there was 6 month wait times from Spikes for certain lowers/complete guns. You might be able to find what you want locally much faster than waiting.

I don't know how new you are to ARs in general, but all lowers are pretty much the same. They all come from a handful of makers, just with different roll marks on them.

I really like the Spikes spider roll mark, and I found it local, so I got it. But I wouldn't have waited had I not found it local. There are plenty of other lowers with nice roll marks that you can find, and in some cases they may have even come out of the same factory as the Spikes.

If you are looking for a spike billet upper or a rail, seekins precision makes the billet stuff for spikes. It's where I am going to buy a couple of billet uppers for a few sbr builds I am doing.

If Spike's logo is what you're after on a stripped lower, I guess you gotta wait. If you want Spike's, but you're OK with a different logo, just pick up a JD Machine lower at most dealers. When I bought my lower directly from JD, they let me look through boxes of lowers, just so I can pick a certain serial number. Guess what? While I was going through, I stumbled upon 3 boxes of JD made Spike's lowers. They wouldn't let me take any of those :D

Spike's and most all the other popular AR manufacturers are backlogged for months.

Isn't that illegal?

Rorge, I first saw it in the "Book of the AR-15" 07/2011 issue from "Guns & Ammo" It's a great piece about California permissible AR's only difference is, that one was chambered in .223. As far as I can tell the 5.56 is Ok in California. It is a OLL with a 16 in barrel equipped with a "bullet button" Length is 34.5 in fully collapsed. Any of the experts please chime in & discuss if this is GTG here in Cali. Thanks everyone for your input.

I believe Rorge was referring to Spikes charging your Credit Card before they have the product in stock and shippable.

Why is nobody buying this? http://www.sacramentoblackrifle.com/products/spikes-tactical-st-15-stripped-lower-receiver-with-safe-semi-auto-bullet-markings Is it the second generation lower? Is there any difference between this and any other spikes lower?

Yes, exactly.

Rorge, thanks for the clarification. I was getting nervous being in CA it's hard to keep up with any new laws. One day, you're compliant & the next day you're not.

We have over 60 Spikes Pictogram lowers in stock. (as of 6/4/12). We placed our orders quite some time ago and have been pretty luck in getting our shipments even though they raised their prices on them. The one off tacticool logos are another story all together.

OakTree Gun Club in Newhall California has them in stock.

That's odd. My good friend had a Spike's stripped lower on backorder at OakTree until very recently. After about 3 months, he gave up and bought ammo with the money. They have excellent prices on bulk .223 - $150 for 500.

Anyway, we both ended up getting Aero Precision lowers. He's already built his out and it's quite nice.

Spike's is really good quality kit for exceptionally low prices. Everyone experiences a wait time with them... even with the simplest things.

Took me 3-4 months to get a complete upper before it was busy for them... i reckon it's gonna take a lot longer now.
