View Full Version : tipton rod lenth?

Getting a Tipton cleaning rod and have a question.

From the tip of my muzzle break to the back of the bolt or back of the Upper with bolt in is exactly 25".

Will 26" rod work for me, I have looked at the Tipton sight and they do not say if the dimensions given are end to end or tip to beginning of handle!

It would seam like getting the shortest rod that will do would be best so there is not allot of extra rod flexing?

Any one have one and can comment
have any other comments about rods

The rod itself without the handle is 25 5/8" and should work up to a 16" barrel for an AR.

that only leaves 5/8th to clear the Jag,
are you using it on a AR?

Thanks for the input

Get a longer rod. Will you be getting a carbon fiber rod? I hear they are the shizznit.

I just recently bought a 36" Tipton CF rod for my 16" AR. Works great, and is just the right size with a bore guide.

How long are the rod attachments you intend to use?

I have adapters for my various rod makes that add a bit to the overall length.

36" cleans the 14.5 and 20" barrels like a charm. Good choice Tipton is the business.
