Yo so just got back from the range, thought I'd take some pics to see if I'm actually getting any better.

I was shooting my p229, which is a stock enhanced elite. It's the first handgun I've owned, and I've put maybe 1000 rounds thru it.

Shooting from around 15 yards, and I was standing (no rest or any of that business)

How do these groups look?

first five:

20 shot groups, chest is 1 shot / second, arm is one handed 1 shot / sec:

Last 2 ten shot groups:

Again, everything is from about 15 yards.

Looks pretty good to me, looks like you have learned some good trigger control. Why not step it out to 25 yards and see if you can hit those 10 rings consistently. Just my opinion, but if you can shoot a controlled group like that at 25 yards your doing pretty good in my book.

Well, you won't win any compititions with that shooting, but you could win a gunfight.

Nice!!! keep on trying to improve. Like others said i'd move out to 25 yards and see what you can do from there.

Even at 7 yards those would have been decent groups. Keep it up.

Nice. Yeah, I had a really good day at the range so I thought I'd put 'em up. Haven't really pushed it out to 25 yet but I'll definitely give it a try.

Thanks for the input!

Thanks. Yeah, I used to play paintball a ton in nppl and psp leagues back in the autococker days so I think some has run over from that ;). Other than that just dry firing drills and such.

This^^^. "Competitions" That is very good based on what I see at the range. Most of the "shooters" and I use that word loosely can barely keep shots inside a 20" circle at 7 yards.

I think that pace of 1 shot per second is a good measure of trigger control at 15 yards. You get a decent flash sight picture but still need good trigger control to keep that pace. Good job!

Protip: Put a small bullseye target on top of your sillhouette targets. your groups will shrink.

THIS^^^. I agree aim small miss small. I do this on days I am working on my trigger control.

Shooting at 25 yards is really no different than shooting at 15 yards. A lot of it is mental.
People complain the target is a blob/blur, but it's SUPPOSED to when you're focusing on the front sight. Trust your wobble, and the bullet will go where you want it to. Try shooting at a blank target at 25 yards. You'll be surprised.
