Hey gang, I have a new chrome lined heavy barrel for my AR 15. After a thorough cleaning, pushing from breach to muzzle as I have seen many of you recommend, it still looks like it needs cleaning. I was told to 1) clean thoroughly 2) shoot one round and clean again 3) repeat step 2 for nine more rounds and then be GTG.
Is it normal for a new chrome lined barrel to not look like a mirror finish?
Was this good advice?
Anything I should know that I don't even know enough to ask about?
Yes this is my first AR.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Just shoot it.

Try soaking it in CLP for a bit and then run a boresnake through it and some cleaning patches. How dirty is it exactly? I wouldn't worry much. Just go out and shoot it. I've never heard of shooting a round and cleaning after and repeating it 9 times. That seems excessive

Go to your local shop and pick up a few thousand rounds of high velocity polishing pieces. Load em' up, shoot em' all then maybe clean ur gun.

ha ha just I expected. Thank you guys for your comments. I am going to go shoot it.
By the way is that a standard answer for just about every situation? "Just shoot it"?
I'm thinking that maybe "shoot it" should be a default first response to many problems.

Hard chrome is not shiny, it's dull.

it is a first or common response to non-issues that are being over-thought by the OP :p

Don't confuse the chrome lining in your AR barrel with the one on your DUB wheels. :D

Breaking in a chrome lined barrel is like putting an afterburner on a turtle.
