Never seen/used one of these before...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001HBHNHE

Came up on Amazon while I was looking at hearing protection, looks like it has amazingly good reviews...

I know I have been irritated at how long and tedious the reloading of rifle magazines can be.

Is this a worthwhile investment for the g/f & I for a new .45 1911?

Are there other/better brands/options I should check out?

Will you call me a little girl if you see me at the range using this to assist in loading a magazine? :D

The uplula is a godsend. The 10 round glock/beretta/XD mags have this "the 10th round challenge" that is completely dominated by it.

I think I should chime in as you brought up .45 1911s. I just purchased a brand new Sig 1911 and 10 round Tripp Cobramags. The magazines that I hand loaded had a couple failure to feed or battery while the magazines that I used that loader on had no issues at all. As the gun and mags are brand new, I am not discounting the fact that the gun and mags are not broken in yet. However, using that loader for my 10 round Cobramags is just heaven when loading brand new magazines.

Also, everyone else who brought stuff up above is correct. If you're loading magazines a lot, especially to full capacity, they are great!

Hmm I've never used one before but I know it gets rave reviews. I remember I was at a recent gun show where this vendor let this guy try one out and he immediately said "wow i'm in, i'm in for one!"

For 1911 7- or 8-round mags, I don't bother using it. For double stack mags like Glock mags, it is great.

a must have!

only thing to keep in mind is that it is suggested that you load the first round into the mag without the loader

cuz on some mags, the metal lip on the loader damages the follower in the mag

Yeah for 1911 magazines I don't see the point in it. For Glock mags on the other hand, I often hear grown men saying that it often takes all they've got to push the 10th round in there.

I hated I when I first got it until I realized you have to ut it on a flat surface or yur leg. Works wonderfl for me now.
Took it to the range my friend with 5 xd mags saw mines tried it, then used amazon from his phone got 1 on the spot. My othr friend with stock glock mag loder saw it did the same.

I took 53 mags for my 1911 last time I went to P2K.

I'd rather pay to shoot than to load.

=1 on the uplula. Best money spent IMHO. I actually plan on buying 1-2 more since I got my wife and mother-in-law into shooting. They both have mild carpal tunnel and the uplula is dream when they help load mags.

Personally, I like the simple loaders that come with the XD or Glock- no moving parts. However, my wife has trouble with the Glock loader so I got her the Uplula. It takes about 10 minutes of practice, but it is very effective for her to load her Glock 19 magazines.

It really is one of those widgets that live up to the claims made for it. It is worth the money.

Danz,

Since you mentioned rifle mags in the original post, it might be worth knowing that Lula makes rifle caliber loaders, too. Can't tell you anything about them myself, but am sure others here can.

This is what I do. I'll load the first round by hand and then the subsequent 9 rounds with my UpLula. I love it. At the range, I definitely spend more time shooting than reloading my mags.

I have no trouble at all loading my p229 mags pretty quick.. Maybe I just have strong thumbs :P.

I dunno, maybe it's just something about the idea of getting used to using an extra tool to load my mags is just unattractive to me. However, it does seem like so many people have this thing that it wouldn't be a problem to get your hands on one in the case of a zombie invasion ;).

For a 7 round 1911 magazine, you don't need it. For everything else, it is the one product that actually lives up to the "hype" and is "totally worth it".

Saves thumb pain and fast fast fast! I can load up 6x10 round magazines of 9mm in the same time as It would take to thumb load 3 magazines.

I have 2 of them because my wife and I were fighting over the one I owned.

It's a must for 10 round compliant S&W M&P mags.

If John Moses Browning had decided to make a magloader it would have been the uplula.

I don't know how I lived for so long using the supplied Glock magazine loaders after I bought this. It works better than tha hype because first hand experience trumps other's comments. The bullets just fall into the magazines and your thumb lives happily ever after.

I have tried many different mag loaders and this is the best. I am surprised that no one has mentioned my favorite feature...it works on single and double stack mags, plus it works on all lengths, from little baby flock mags to 30 round sticks...great product!

These things are great. A friend of mine just bought a M&P 9, that thing had a seriously stiff mag spring. This loader made short work of those magazines and sure as hell saved our thumbs. Great buy and a must have for range bags that belong to anyone that plans on shooting fairly often, and shoot often you should! haha.

maybe you do, but when your shooting 500 plus rounds per session, it gets real annoying real fast. plus its a whole lot faster than doing it by hand. i can load 17 round glock mags in under 30 seconds. that makes for a whole lot more shooting time... trust me, (and it seems, the rest of the folks here) use one once, and you will buy one.:D

I have one. My only complaint is that mine doesn't load .22LR magazines. There's a variant specifically for those though. I have a mag loader for my .22's and it works just fine. There's another loader for single stack .22LR magazines that is supposed to be even faster than the mini upLULA for .22's...
