Any sub $400 uppers worth it? I am looking to complete a budget upper for my son who graduated. Would just like a decent functioning upper, doesn't have to be sub moa. Any help and links appreciated.

Look up Palmetto State Armory, with their M4 madness sale they may not have much in stock, but It's worth a shot.

My Delton's been working fine for over a year and a couple of thousands of rounds.

Del-Ton is out of uppers and isn't taking orders, according to the email I received from them on Monday, so to get one of theirs you'd have to go through a reseller. PSA looks like they're backordered on most of theirs too.

I've been looking at DSA. They're inexpensive and I haven't seen anyone complain about them. You can get an upper for $250, BCG for $110 and Charging handle for $14 which is still under $400 shipped.

Anyone have any experience with DSA?

Can someone help me find a 14.5" carbine upper for around the same price? Everyone is posting 16" but I'm working on an m4gery. Thanks :)

Ordered an M4 DSA upper for $240 the other day. From everything I've been reading, I shouldn't expect to see it for about 2-3 months from now if I'm lucky. I think all uppers from manufactures have a long wait period right now.

As for DSA quality, the reports I've read seem to be in the same realm as the Delton stuff, which is pretty good.

Here's another option for you (they even have a 762x39 upper in your budget range).

Deviljon, Hit me up brother. I can get you a 14.5" looking at around $495 including a FA Bolt carrier group and a Les Baer Bolt with charging handle low pro gas block and a free float hand guardIf you can find that at a cheaper price let me know. I don't think you will with this quality and options though.

Im also looking for a 20" and a 16" upper for around the 400 also. Usually marketplace has 1 or 2 up there, but it looks like they get bought out pretty fast.

Wow, I never heard of that place before and just went looking, very good prices on uppers! They well known? Good service? I may just get one in two/three months.

That and I'd love to find a FN barrel, I could always buy it separately, like the idea of a really overbuilt rifle :D. Or they were good last time I heard.

I got a Midlengh upper from DSA about 2 weeks ago. It took 3 months to get it. For 250.00 its fine, slapped some new MOE handguards on it and gona rock it for awhile.

if you got time to wait DSA is the way to go. If they can build a decent FAL, they can build an AR-15. I ordered mine about a month ago, hopefully something will come through by August. LOL.

I went with sota arms. sotaarms.com

I used a SOTA upper for my first AR assembly, my Dad did too... Stainless barrel, carbine gas system, it's been great so far with about 600 rounds thru it (both 600).. I'm ordering another for the wife who is coming down with the BRD (which yes, is awesome).

For some reason the sale price isn't working right now, may want to contact them.

This link shows the M4 uppers for $299 (http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/complete-uppers.html) (16" and 20"), neither have a BCG or charging handle.

If you are not in a hurry, no problem.
If you really want one NOW, then it may be difficult to stay on budget.

I bought an armalite upper for $350 direct from them a couple years ago on sale, put it on a doublestar lower, excellent rifle for a modest price.

If your son is hard-up for cash, is a .22LR upper an option? I say that because with the price of .223 right now, even if he gets a .223 upper, can he afford to shoot it?

You can get .22LR uppers in your price range from CMMG and others, then shoot the snot out of them on a shoestring budget. Tons of fun, and he'll learn all the skills plus be able to keep them sharp without breaking the bank on ammo prices.
