Hello fellow calgunners!
Got some 20rd WCC 5.56 M855 penatrator from bayareagunvault here in the bay area and ran across this? Every now and then I get a few ding'd up ones from XM855 but i know the X in XM855 are rejects, supposedly M855 are not rejects? (please correct me if im wrong)

Anyone knows what happened?
It appears to be like a hazard shape?
Here's the box...

If this kinda thing keeps happening, I think I may just get started into reloading. Actually I will

If you're asking what that is, it's a primer loaded into the casing the wrong way. Dispose of the round. Soak it in oil if you can to render the primer inert.

Yep exactly what is said above. It's kind of odd thoug. 5.56 with the NATO + but no primer crimps? First time I have seen that.

X does not signify rejects. It's put there to differentiate from ammunition that are intended for the military.

Out of curiosity, how dangerous is that?

I have loaded one like that before in a bolt action rifle and pulled the trigger - just a click, no bang or anything. Ejected it and went back to shooting.

Yup, all crimped...just that one particular cartridge has its primer upside down is all.

Give it to any 5.56/.223 reloader you know.

They will make use of it... (Flip the primer after pulling the bullet, it will be fine after a decrimp/crimp-ream and a reload. :)
