Hi All!

I figured this was the appropriate section, River City Gun Exchange in Sacramento has it in stock. I went today and bought 200 rounds for $81 out the door and they had a lot left in stock. Just thought you all would like to know

True, but when you need ammo you need ammo

Just like gas. If you need it, you need it. Cost doesn't matter.

Not really a bad deal...

My local Wall Mart's sell AE .223 for 6.97/ box of 20. So before tax that's $34.85. OP got better ammo for $40.50 otd. Oh and did I mention that WM is almost always sold out of AE .223?

$.40+ per round isn't that bad of a deal? Meh. You do realize that sales tax on $35 is only like $3, yeah? I've been looking around lately for ammo and it's relatively easy to find ammo shipped to your door for $.35 or $.36 round.

Cost and worth, to the OP it was worth it. Some people put a premium on their lack of patience, if it's in stock and I need/want it, then I would also pay the higher price.

I understand that, but it doesn't make it a good/okay/whatever deal because of lack of patience is all. :)

What is green tip ammo?

M855. Its brass cased 5.56 round that has a steel core that penetrates through tough objects. The tip is painted green which is why its called green tips

Most ranges won't allow you to shoot this since its a fire hazard.

I never intended for this to be thought of as a great or good deal haha, I just see threads all the times about where to find certain kinds of ammo so I thought I would alert everyone to where some is.

Plus, I'm used to paying $24 for 20 rnds with my .270, so anything less than a $1 a round makes me happy :) And I needed ammo to go shooting today, it performed well and so did my AR. All in all, successful day.

Haha, I hear ya! Getting good .308 isn't inexpensive either!

lol. I've bought ammo for $.40+ per round before. I just try to be a bit more frugal about it when I can.

Not within the city of Sacramento itself, no. However, the county itself doesn't have that restriction nor does an address that is outside of the city limits of Sacramento even if the city is "Sacramento" on your mailing address. Check your address at the assessor's office to find out. :)

If you're just looking for cheap, I picked up some steel cased ammo from PSA:
http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ammunition/rifle-ammunition/223-5-56/mfs-223-55gr-fmj-zinc-plated.html

$125/500rd = $0.25/rd shipped.

Since I don't have a reloading setup, nor a place to store it if I did, I am opting for the cheap stuff.

Sounds like a fair price for nowadays, unfortunately.

Technically no, but some companies will. Obviously I would never do this...;)

Lol!

Oh and just so I'm not thread jacking I'd like to say that I bought about 200 rounds of cheapo steel cased ammo from Ammo Depot (http://ammodepotstores.com/)for about $60. I dont recall the brand name (@ work right now so can't check but I think it had a bear on the box...) but they also had PMC brass from roughly $7 per box of 20. Not the best price but not terrible either.

Seriously though! I practically died of happiness this year at the Reno Gun Show, I was able to snag a box of 200 rounds of 150gr Federal PowerShok in .270 for $150. It was great, like Christmas opening the cardboard box and seeing 10 boxes of 20 rounds each :) My girlfriend still though I was crazy though...until she shot a box and realized it was fun lol.

Lol. I need more .308 right now and I'm really not looking forward to buying it. I need to get to a gun show one of these days and peek around.
