When asked what a barrel shroud is, something Carolyn McCarthy was attempting to ban, she said she didn't know what it was...

This is the level of knowledge we're arguing with. Frankly, they don't CARE about what the truth is, they just do stuff out of fear and ignorance.

Until we educate people, stuff like this will keep happening.

How do you propose accomplishing this goal?

By voting them out of office.

How do we vote them out of office when we are outnumbered?

Being a good ambassador for the sport goes a looong way. It's truly a viral thing.

Do not evangelize; that's annoying to normal humans and therefore counter-productive, but if you have friends from all sides of the political spectrum (as normal, well-adjusted humans tend to have) you'll be able to eventually speak on the subject.

Well-chosen words coming from friends carry a weight that can not be equaled by an outsider. Friends will allow you to frame the issue, and will hear you out, even ask questions about points of concern or confusion. That will be your opportunity to show them that it's about civil rights, and the concern over maintaining them for posterity.

I hadn't realized that there was anyone on this forum that might not have seen the gazillion references herein to "it's a thing that goes up."

I was gonna get one of the shoulder things that go up from Exile but I decided to save up for the Phased Plasma Rifle in 40 Watt range instead. It won't be in stock for another 9 years but I feel it's the better purchase for me. To each his own though.

I make it a point to discuss "evil features" with anyone who will listen. I especially like showing off the evil feature of a barrel shroud.

You see this thing here? It keeps your hand from getting burned. That was part of the Federal Assault weapons ban. lulz

I dont know whats worse, not knowing what a barrel shroud is or saying that an unloaded gun can still shoot people

Id call it more of an ancient goodie, but still fun to laugh at. Really the most disturbing thing is not that McCarthy doesn't know what a barrel shroud is, but it's clear she doesn't even know what end of a firearm the barrel is on even when the word "barrel" is in the nomenclature. lol

And these nit-wits are the ones writing laws.....

What? An unloaded gun can kill people... I admit it takes more energy to bludgeon a person to death with a gun than to shoot them.
But now I'm confused I thought we were supposed to conserve energy...

Right after telling everyone you're the only one proffesional enough to handle a firearm. (or was it "responsible enough")
