Top notch stuff right there.

Colt did a good thing making CA-compliant models.
Price is a little stiff for that one though.

I've been basically trying to build this for the last 2 months the problem has been trying to locate a 14.5" socom barrel.

Like the gun, price isnt that crazy considering what it is, but still a bit steep.

I purchased a Colt SOCOM 14.5" barrel on GB.

Says the guy with the Scar 17 ;)

I looked on GB but I'm not willing to pay $500 I've seen them NIB around for about $350

That is probably the better ways to cover up their serial number. Nice!

I purchased the barrel as a stand-alone part for $225 brand new, which seemed to be the going rate at the time.

Not an outrageous price. The rail system alone is $370-400.

LOl, well super MILspec tap dancing pony roll marks aside, Im fairly certain I could build a rifle of similar if not better spec than that Colt for less money.

Dont think I could build a SCAR period :p

I've purchased 2 Colt lowers from them, and they're really good guys to deal with.

Cant see a reason for it when you can have a 6940 with the MRP instead, and for less money. Good sales tactic by Colt though.

That's what I thought. Plus, if you want a Daniel Defense rail that bad (and I do ;)) you could just buy a Daniel Defense rifle or one of the BCM uppers that come with one.

For one a Socom barrel plus 5" more rail space and what if you need a place to put your M203 but still want a FF rail.

DD doesn't sell a mid weight barrel or a rifle with the RIS 2 besides the MK18 to my knowledge. BCM you'd have to buy them separately and install the RIS 2 buy a BCG and a rear BUIS it's probably about the same cost after you figure everything.

It's a Block II SOPMOD M4.

It's for people who want an absolute clone of what some of our boys in Southwest Asia are using as we speak.

Note the FSP and 12" rail... Block II M4.

Plus, from a practical standpoint, 7" handguards on non-SBRs are totally and completely obsolete. :D

Here's just a Block II upper for sale: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=288166111

I am happy that us Californians can now buy Colt and Armalite AR's. That being said those DD rails are hideous, the fixed front sight looks like an afterthought with rails going all over the rail system.

I'm glad you put so much value on perceived aesthetics in a combat rifle.

Last time I checked, Ratworx wouldn't ship the Colt SOCOM II into California. Does anyone know differently?

Just curious, would any CA FFL's have a problem completing the DROS on a LE6920SOCOMII or does the "LE" prefix create a problem?

The FFL should only be concerned with weather or not its on the list. Before Colt started making different lowers the only Colt I saw for sale where LE6940's.
