Palmetto has pmc xtac for good prices and free shipping. But Unless you NEED it I would hold off until the election hysteria price jacking subsides

I had two cases delivered last week. .39/rnd delivered from Wideners. They have no more, all gone. Ammoman has none. Ammoengine has none listed. Good luck in your search!

The zinc cased MFS 500rds for 124$ is a good deal too if you don't want the brass.

.39 per round for 5.56?!?! Yikes, it's time to give my ARs a rest and shoot my Mosin. Glad I am saving all of my brass, gonna have to finally get into reloading, that is just too expensive for plinking.

Crappy ammo. Underpowered and unreliable feed.

Most reliable are still the Federal brown box XM193 and M855.

I have had 0 problems with it, and the paper at 200 yards thinks it has plenty of power. Yes, it is not as good but it is also 10-15 cents per shot cheaper, which makes it great for plinking.

When I say underpowered, I don't mean the stopping power. I mean underpowered as in underloaded powder which causes fte problems. Most tula/wolf/mfs ammo aren't loaded as hot as American ammo.

Go take some chrono measurements between MFS ammo and Federal LC ammo shot out of the same rifle. You'll see a difference.

Bownells or Sinclaires have had the 420 count with stripper clips in ammo can for less well under $200 especially with promo codes. I placed an order there for one but it was out of stock for over a month and I gave up on the order.
I recently bought the "pail-o-ammo" m855 from centerfire systems for a decent price after waiting forever for another decently priced m855 deal to com back in stock.

Not to brag... but I just got 1100 rounds XM193 for $200... :43:

I put up an ad on ARMSLIST in NV (im from Reno) and the guy said he had a tight chambered CMMG rifle... he bought 1200 rounds through Palmetto State Armory last year and just opened the box. Works great in my PSA Dissy :)

Thanks bonesurf! I didnt know just how good of a deal I got until I poked around local gun shops...

I do know of a few shops here in Reno that have XM855 and XM198/XM193 in stock. Prices seemed reasonable. I want to say they were asking $150 for 420 or $300 for 1K.

Okay, that tells us exactly nothing. 3031fps through what kind/length of barrel?

I see your join date indicates 2011. Were you around for the 2008/2009 "election hysteria price jacking"? Because it lasted a couple of years.

If it doesn't have the NATO cross in the circle, it's not NATO. It may be loaded to "NATO Specifications" but it's not what the original post asked for. Attention to detail folks.

Nuttin'.

Federal will label their ammo with different suffixes which denote different means of packaging. For example:

XM193CBP is packed in a 200rd (IIRC) bulk pack.

XM193F is packed loose in 20rd boxes.

XM193J is packed on 10rd stripper clips in 30rd boxes.

Unless you're talking about something like AE223 which is a different load altogether.

Unfortunately I'm quite middle aged and maybe I'm optimistic but prices and availability already seem better than a few months ago

I figured they were all the same. Reason was cause ott1 mentioned "brown box" as the most reliable.
Thanks!

Yesterday this other website was selling Federal 5.56 xm193bk 1000rds for $330 shipped but sold out quickly, I got my order in just in time. But, I just got this in my email this morning, not really a deal but if you are looking for some Federal: $349 not including shipping 5.56 xm193bk 1000rds.

M193 spec ammo chronos about that fast out of a sixteen-inch barrel so yeah, your MFS load is severely underpowered.
