California State Championship pictures TWO WEEKS EARLY !!!

Next weekend is the Sports Fair at Raahauge's, so if you want to practice there it has to be this weekend.

I'm pleased to report they've put a in a ton of improvements.

First off they've painted all the stations, even the new two-story one. Next, every station has a gun rack and a picnic table. They've planted a bunch of trees and Mike told me they're going to run four-man squads to keep things running smoothly.

They're cutting off the entries at 225 and they're already up to 196, so if you want in now's the time to register.

Shot there yesterday with four others after some trap at Prado- man that place cleaned up some- shooting from that platform was awesome, and the scenery and weather were great.

Some of those presentations were rather difficult though. Still, a fun day out

It was a nice day out there yesterday :)

I was watching the cowboys, though. I parked close to one of the stations as I could see both of the launchers.

You won't see this on a skeet field :)

Hey, what chokes are generally used in a sporting clay/five stand situation? I'm thinking of trying out five stand. The nearest sporting clays place is pretty far. On my O/U I have cyl, imp cyl, mod, imp mod, and full.

Mana - most will run a combination of IC and LM - O/Us (and SxS) have an advantage here as you have two chokes immediately at your disposal - Yesterday ran the auto with both an IC and an LM, but I think I'll run solely LM...also used a BSS which was choked M/F with decent success, but again, IC/LM are the norm.

I may be back out there tomorrow morning @ 9ish - with one or two others...Javi's right - yesterday was a beautiful day...

Thank you very much. I'm heading out to the skeet fields again tomorrow morning. Need to pick up some more reloading supplies too lol

Yep, when I practice I shoot mod & mod. When I shoot a tournament I use IC & Lt Mod.

I've seen guys out there with 16 different chokes, and four different loads. I shoot 1oz of #8 going 1200fps and if I put the gun in the right spot, it will break everything out there.

Interesting. I've been reloading 1-1/8 oz 7.5's at 1200 fps. Ive been able to handle the recoil. My shoulder is usually a little bit sore after about 150-200 rounds. I really like the AA or clay buster wads. They absorb some of the recoil.

When I switched from 1-1/8 oz to 1 oz, my scores actually when up. Lots of people have told me the same thing.

If you reload, load up a thousand rounds and give it a try.

Recoil is a personal thing. I'm an old guy and 1-1/8 oz 3 DR EQ beats the crap outta me.

Maybe the next thousand. I just picked up another 1000 wads for 1-1/8 oz. Ya, I've been okay so far with the 1-1/8 oz. Yesterday I shot about 5 or 6 rounds that my father reloaded 15-20 years or more ago. I'm not sure what was in them, but holy crap!!! Those rounds were crazy!!
