Any thoughts on this model? (http://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-69240-Compact-Mounted-Tactical/dp/B0077RHYWQ)

Thinking of purchasing it for a Sig 1911 that has a rail...

From what I've read, it is a solid light. Appears to be designed for smaller/compact guns. Given the length of a 1911, I'd recommend looking for a looking at the TLR-2, if you really want a laser. And the TLR-1 if you don't care for the laser.

I have one on my M&P 9c. It is a nice add on to the pistol and works great.

I want one that is as small as possible...that one looks kind of big...

I would go for the TLR-2s. It will be brighter and look MUCH better on a 1911 fullsize rail. the TLR-3 and 4 are designed speciffically for compacts like M&P C. I have a TLR-1s on my M&P 40. I love it. I always practice with it with my thumbs foward grip.

I have one on my Sig 2022. It works fine. Much brighter than I expected. I'm very happy with it for the $$. Consider getting one from http://www.botachtactical.com/sttl1.html. Very happy with their service and they're based in L.A. I've tried to order stuff from Optics Planet before and had problems (they resolved it, but still left a less than satisfied experience).

I had a choice between Tritium night sights, or this product. My purchase of the TRL-4 was the best I could have made; with a powerful lamp and the addition of the laser makes for an intimidating force at night.

If your 1911 is for the home use, then TLR-4 is just fine. Its true that the TLR-2 is bigger and brighter than the 4 but its more expensive. The 1 and 2 would make a better fit on your 1911 but cost becomes a problem, I would get the 4 just because I have one.

Once you get that laser zero'd in, that baby is spot on. Great light and even better price!

It's fine for compact guns, I have one on a sig 229r, but I think it's too small for a full size 1911

I would get night sights first if you don't have them

Did you order the HK USP specific model or the generic one? I ask because I was thinking of adding one of these to my collection of lights and would like the option of using it on my USPs or other railed guns. I would think that the generic one's claws would still clamp well onto the USPs proprietary rails.

It's specific to the USP Compact model, which at the time had about a $20 premium over the standard model.

if you order from Optics planet you can order the normal one with all the rail options and then also order the seperate USP adapter then you can run it on ANY gun you want - thats what I did.

Bought one and have it installed on my Glock 29. Seems like a good product, but I haven't shot with it yet.
