A used Glock 19 gen 2 for $399, or spend another $100 and get a new gen 3 with an accessory rail? I am flirting with the idea of using a 9mm for my WROL/SHTF instead of my XD45 for a couple reasons that are probably more appropriate for a different topic. Anyways, is that a good price? And is the accessory rail really that big of a deal (think practical for WROL/SHTF situation)? I like being able to put a light on my XD45. Are gen 2's kinda rare or no?

Gen 2 G19 is one that i'd have difficulty walking away from, given the right condition and price. i also like the Gen 3; i have an OD G19.

Get a gen4 :). I like having the option of mounting a light on my hd handguns so i'd go with the rail. Never know when you'll need a light

Answered my own question.

Centrally located in Brea, California the ProForce store is not open to the general public and only open to Law Enforcement, Military (both active and retired), Security Personnel, Medical First Responders and Fire Professionals. ID is needed to gain entry into the store which is open Monday - Saturday 9am-6pm Pacific for your convenience.PROFORCE Store Brea, California.

Yeah they only sell to people within certain professions, the OP may be in one of them.

If you don't qualify for the Blue label Glock, Join the GSSF and get a voucher. You will still have a substantial savings...

If you see yourself possibly needing the rail, or prefer the finger grooves, get the gen 3.

If the Gen2 is in good condition I would say get that and if you find yourself needing a gen 3 (or 4) buy that later.

You can never have too many G19s - I eventually traded my 2nd OD19 for a 17. :D

Slow it down Ubermcoupe, The Glock naysayers will disapprove of the fact that you are promoting ownership of multiple Glocks in the same model/caliber. We can't have any of that nonsense around here;)

O yea, I forgot.
I guess I shouldn’t mention that I have another OD glock in jail... :43:

I'd go for the new Gen 3. Better to have the rail than not and I personally prefer the finger grooves.

gen 2 if you dont plan on shooting it and just want a cool gun. gen 3 if you are going to shoot it. gen 4 if you want to spend extra money to say f**k you california.

as for rarity, no they are not that rare, but gen 2's with Austrian proof marks are a little harder to find and have more collectible value. if the glock you are looking at has marks like these on it i would buy it just for the cool factor.
my proofed gen 2 glock 19
