So at the next gun show in glendale I plan on starting my .308 build, but I want to not have a BB on it so it needs to be featureless, so what is a good route to go with it?

Fixed stock, brake instead of flash hider, monsterman, exile, or some sort of kydex wrap, don't put a vfg on it. It's not really complicated.

:toetap05: yeah Im aware of that, Im more looking towards the, this lower vs that lower, good combo of upper/lower ext. I know what is required for a featureless rifle.

dpms lower seems reasonably priced.

JD Machine usually brings a matched upper/lower set to the shows. It's based on the DPMS AR .308 platform. It looks great. I checked it out and the machining, fit and finish are great.

DPMS will give you the most options -

CNC an 80% lower and go to town.

Stay tuned for my 12.5" AR10 pistol....

Saiga .308 + Conversion Kit + Grip Wrap. Zing!

Seriously though, tell us what you want to spend. Or, I don't know, use the search function.

I was thinking something similar to this, minus the pistol grip, anyone have any input on FN's?

It's called the M1A. You will not be disappointed.

Yeah that's what I was thinking about but I believe they are pretty hard to find

Really? Cause I found it in about 8 seconds on google. Ditto for .308 options. Ditto for featureless rifle specs and ditto for inherently featureless alternatives to the AR-15 platform such as the M1A or the Saiga 308.

This thread is literally a useless collection of 8 second google searches.

Relative to the pistol grip fnar I thought the non pistol grip much less common. In fact there are a couple pistol grip for sale in the marketplace

Buy a M14 parts kit from CMP and a barreled receiver from either LRB or 7.62mm Firearms. for the ultimate featureless .308 semi-auto rifle.

Here is one of my featureless FAL's since I got sick of BB on a standard length rifle..... my Para's are still BB/FM:facepalm:
308 AR's can be a bit finicky and yes I have owned a couple Armalites/Aero precision lowers...... HK/CETME/PTR are rugged,accurate enough,beat up brass, but you have to be sure-if a cetme- that the bolt gap and sights are good.... ergonomically not the best specially if you have smaller hands/short fingers...... M1a- personally it seems there are gremlins that can come up that should not be issues given what most people pay for these things.. to each his/her own desires,wallet and expectations....

I hate this state.........

here's some food for thought. i didn't want to assemble a 308 that looks like every other lr308 out there so i chose the a robust ranch rifle layout.
assembled my 308 carbine from:
cmmg lower + dpms lower parts kit
16" dpms oracle upper
a2 stock
monsterman grip (origional)
carbine length troy extreme battle rail
pri qc muzzle brake
jp adjustable gas block (lo profile)
hk iron sights zeroed at 200 yards +-

* this rig shoots any ammo i can find for it and is as accurate as my rfb, ptr or m1a.
* hair over 10lbs loaded
* 37" long
* very little recoil (kinda like the rfb).

...good luck with your choice.
