I was highly thinking of shelling money out for one pf these since I already have a pump shotgun. I heard stoegers auto system was similar but can never find them without a long barrel. Any of you guys liking your benellis?

I realize there's m1-4 models and if I recall one can do pump and semi auto?

M4 is awesome. And the M2 seems to be king of 3 gun. Must be a reason for that. Other good options out there too. Benellis are a solid choice though.

M4 & M2 field in my house. Both have been great.
My super nova pump has the most birds to it's name though.....

In short,

M1s & M2s rulez 3-guns

M3 is the semi that can also be "pumped" (if needed)

M4 is the one used by the military, it is "gas operated", instead of the "inertia operated" M1/M2

M1014 is used by Military. It's not mag restricted ;) and has a telescoping buttstock.

The M3 can be switched between semi-auto and manual pump mode. I have one and it works great.

I run a Benelli M-2 for 3-gun. Runs like a champ.

Look real hard at the Mossberg 930 series. I have fired only two, but they are reliable and cost a lot less. I fired the JM Mossberg model.

it IS mag restricted, 10 rounds and the configuration that you mentioned would have to have the stock pinned.

OP check out the FN SLP

I picked up an m2 field a few weeks ago, it needs a little bit of work to be 3 gun ready but after a few tweaks to the carrier latch and a tube extension I am completely satisfied and feel that it is well worth the money. I have about 400 rounds through mine which includes one competition. I had 2 failures to eject in the first 25 rounds of bulk ammo, it has been flawless ever since.

How much does the FN one run?

And yea I'm liking the idea of the M1 or the M3 since I can go between pump/auto.

I suppose then the big question is how much is one going to run me nowadays? I'm only good for pistol shopping it seems, I dont want to get ripped off.

Oh and I thought all the "M" models were sporting the ability to rack the charging handle and be able to put a slug in place, instead of having to press a button so it wouldn't cycle a shell from the mag tube? Or is that only the M4 model?

I think this is the right question. For me, the Benelli M2 (22in w/ 10rd tube) is the 3Gun shotgun. I liked my Rem1100 for trap.

The M2 has that feature also,
the SLP does not
press and hold bolt release, while you rack the slide this will prevent a new round coming from the tube to the lifter, it will also lock the slide open, drop in the new round, hit the bolt release.

I've seen them (18.5" w/stock & pistol grip like the picture)in Dick's Sporting Goods gun catalog for something crazy like $379. I have a thread Here (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=554094&highlight=stoeger) for Stoeger compatibility items from the M2.

**EDIT**

A quick check of the Stoeger stock number gave me this: http://www.gunsamerica.com/958838720/Guns/Shotguns/Stoeger-Shotguns/M2000_3152.htm

I love it. Weak hand loading four at a time from caddies my best times are 8-10 seconds for eight shells. From the LoadTwo I can load eight in 5/6 seconds while running. BTW, this is the Mark Otto version.

Buy it!

To quote another member:

Buy the benelli now, because it will be cheaper than buying something else before you inevitably get the benelli later.

I had bought an M3 when they first came out. Sold it and bought an M2 and extended the tube to hold 10 rounds.

awesome gun.

Cool, yea I meant like I saw in the magpul defense video that he liked the Benelli simply because he didnt have to to push a button or do something to keep the tube from feeding, just racking it manually without pulling the trigger allowed him to do that if I recall?

Very nice! I like the look of the stoeger, I thought I read somewhere that the system of operation was VERY similar and that the Stoeger was very similar but obviously not identical. I like the look of that 18.5 inch model, just looked longer with that vent on it.

Oh I should have said, its strictly for defense, no clays or anything, just something I've always wanted. 20 inch barrel is pushing it but I could live with that. I'm preferring 18.5 inch barrels if they come that way?

All Benelli M1-4 behaves like that.

Thank you jicko. I am narrowing it down to the m1/2 or stoeger model.

Here is why they are VERY similiar: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beretta)

Beretta is known for its broad range of fire arms: side-by-side shotguns, over-and-under shotguns, hunting rifles, express rifles, assault rifles, submachine guns, lever and bolt-action rifles, single and double action revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. The parent company; Beretta Holding, also owns Beretta USA, Benelli, Franchi, SAKO, Stoeger, Tikka, Uberti, and the Burris Optics company.

There are design differences, but the concept is the same.

You can save some money and get a Beretta 1200 fp. I found mine for $350.00. The 1200 fp was less expensive and compares to Benelli well.

Was reffering to the Military M1014 and its mag capacity compared to the civilian M4. Last time I checked, the military did not have to pin their M1014's.
