I was getting ready to head to the range. I had my carbine in its soft case on the floor and I accidentally stepped on the corner of the case where the flash hider was. I don't weigh much only like 175. Could this have done any damage?

Strongly doubt... Just visually inspect it for possible deformation?? I would not fret haha.

Take it out of the case and look at it maybe?

Take it out, inspect it for visable damage. If there is no noticible damage shoot it, if you see any muzzle flash it's broken and will need to be replaced.

I don't notice any obvious damage, but with something that's supposed to be very precise couldn't even the little bit of difference affected it?

I don't understand why people pay money for these "Tier 1 Combat Weapons!" and then worry about scratches and stepping on them. Your rifle is fine.

I didn't think so.

As long as it was on carpet you should be GTG. Anything else and you probably ruined it.

If so you may want to replace it.

I think only CA massage therapists are qualified to dispose of these.:43:

To the OP, I've banged the end of mine around a bit and no harm done :) go shoot it!

Not all ARs are worthy of being called "combat" weapon . Many if not at least a large percent can be considered lower quality range toys.

If anyone gets a scratch on their AR it's okay, you can send it to me.

To OP, please inspect the FH to see if it's out of round. PLEASE clear and make safe the weapon before you do so.

FH take a very high level of pressure as the bullet leaves the barrel. If they were weak they would simply get blown apart by the muzzle blast. I'm sure it's fine.

People always lie about their weight, so you should have a gunsmith check it.

hossb7

take the FH off the rifle, then go buy a concentricity gauge and check to make sure it's still round

you need to have the barrel x-rayed as you might have caused dangers micro fractures that could explode when shooting

Don't worry about the flash hider. What you really need to watch out for are those mysterious marks that appear on the brass deflector when shooting.

This could be the dumbest question ever. I'm aware what these things are made of but anyway I got pissed off at my playstation and accidentally kicked my rifle near the flash suppressor in the case. Could this have damaged anything?

It was made in some communist country... so you probably have to hit it with a hammer to get it to run. That's what they call love, comrade.

It seems the OP doesn't quite understand how strong steel is. It's not plastic, it's not going to deform if you step on it or kick it. It's built to contain part of the blast of the .223 round, you're not going to hurt it without a couple tons of weight or a blowtorch.

Stepping on flash hiders to disable a GIs rifle was common practice by the viet congs. Cause devastating casualties and was the main reason we withdrew from southeast Asia.

Was the flash hider MP/HP tested? Is it full auto spec?

If this is a serious thread. Dude you are fine, you should see how we treated our M16s in the Army, they are made to get some abuse. Stop babying it and treat it like a good tool.
