Anyone got any links to some cheap uppers? I cant even find a local store that sells stripped lowers. Riflegear has some $3k+ AR10's, same thing with fowlers, but i dont want to pay exorbitant prices.

This will just be a toy, used for range duty.

gunbroker... you should be able to find an upper for well under $1k

DPMS AR 10 type uppers are about $650.00 through Brownells if you get the C & R discount, even without they're about $800.00. A lower will run about +$300.00, add on the basics and you'll probably end up around $1,300.00. With a discount and luck on a lower I think you could come in about $950.00

Not sure what style you're looking for, but here are a few not as expensive 308 AR options.

I'm sure there are others, but these were the 3 I could think of off the top of my head. These are DPMS pattern not AR10. Didn't know if that made a difference to you or not.

If you could live with an AR sytle 308 rifle, that is not technically and AR-10, then yes, you could put together a new one for less than that. The DPMS pattern ARs (LR-308 is the DPMS model number) can be had for ~$1050-$1200

I had a complete price breakdown for the parts at Midway, but it looks like its all out of stock. Sorry.

Lower = 215 bucks

Stock = 49 bucks

LPK = 60

All in stock

Upper would need to know intention, you said range but that can be from 50 yards to 1K....still can buy/make one for not too steep a price.

Thanks guys! Didnt realize there was a difference in .308 AR looking rifles. The DPMS platform is fine, dont really need to shoot anything past 500 yards.

While the AR 15 uses a standard magazine, AR 10 and "AR 10 types" may use 3 or 4 different magazines. Whatever style rifle you buy make certain you get (and can get) the correct magazine. The DPMS style are generally the least expensive and easiest to find. Other style mags can go for around $50.00 or so.

Good evening,

I was just at Bullseye in Castro Valley on Monday and they had a CMMG AR10 for just over $1300. I'm not sure about CMMG, but for your purposes it might work for you. Good luck.

762sass.com (http://www.762sass.com/store.php?cid=1&session=c87f7ceea747b1776cab888e6f954c9b) has some complete uppers, one at $800. Then you'd have to put that on a lower (can't use an Armalite lower because it's on the ban list, so just use Aero, Noveske, or anything else compatible with the true AR-10 design).

just shop around, find a .308 LOWER on the boards and find an upper... I think I saw a complete AR10 for $1300

I usually go to JSE or DSA if I want a range toy / cheap upper.
