Pardon my noobness. I'm working towards my first AR 15 build and have a question regarding barrels and can't find a good answer anywhere.

Can you have a threaded barrel for a muzzle brake/flash hider? For some reason, I have the impression that threaded barrels where a no-no and you needed to get a flash hider welded on. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Threaded barrels are fine on rifles. Please consult the flowchart link on top of the forum.

it's an 'evil feature' that was part of the AW ban, a bullet button and off list lower negates the ban.

Not exactly...

Threaded barrels are NOT evil features in CA.

Threaded barrels were part of the Federal AW ban.

You can have a threaded barrel and a muzzle brake / compensator on a featureless.

You can have a threaded barrel and muzzle brake / compensator / flash hider on a magazine locked rifle

the only time you need to have the muzzle device welded on, is if the barrel is under 16 inches.
